Sephiroth - Final Fantasy VII
Andrew Ryan - Bioshock
Avery Johnson - Halo 2
Commander Shepard - Mass Effect
Darth Sion - Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II

There were some characters in some of these (like the Big Daddies from Bioshock) that I didn't really feel "contributed" to the actual story in their own rite (I won't spoil anything for those who haven't played it - but none of the Big Daddies actually had a personality. They had one goal, to protect the Little Sisters, and beyond that nothing mattered). Others I liked more than some characters on the list (like Cortana from the Halo series) but I felt like I should pick five different series. These are all in order from greatest to last, and frankly, anyone who doesn't have Sephiroth on their list never played anything from the FF series.

I don't know what Darth Sion is like in the game, but his SW miniatures SA is sick! Eternal Hatred, he keeps coming back to full health if he has the force points.

Darth Sion is the only known Force user to keep himself together via the Force. Google a picture of him; see all those cracks? Notice the grey skin? He's fought and "died" hundreds of times, but his sheer hatred and use of the Force keeps him together; he's in constant, agonizing pain. *SPOILERS* Ultimately, the Exile had to kill him by convincing him that he had to let go of himself and let himself die.*END SPOILERS*
