Project Black Light

Knights of the Old Republic. One of the best games ever (and tied for my personal favorite). Great mechanics, brilliant storyline... just play the game, if you haven't yet.

So, anyone who already knows and/or loves the game, you may want to check this out. And these articles talking about them.

Discuss.

And yes, I realize they'll probably get shut down by EA/Disney. It's still a shot, and they're doing a great job.

KOTOR is my favorite game of all time, but I don't think this will end up going anywhere.  Honestly what I really want is an HD remake of KOTOR.

I know I'm in the minority, but I actually liked KotOR 2 better than the original. I found the story more compelling.

That aside, if this project is able to continue I think that would be awesome. The Old Republic is a great game, but they skipped so much time after K2 that it would be cool to have another installment back when Revan and them were still main figures.

We can always hope, Drrek. As yes, that is my response to both sentences of your post.

I liked KOTOR 2 until I finished it. It went downhill after the final Dantooine scene - it felt like it was rushed (which, I suppose, it kinda was). The first game was consistent with the quality of its storytelling. I actually don't know if they plan to have Revan show up (since KOTOR 2 did mention he was missing, so it is canon), but I think they plan to have the Exile (the PC from 2) as the PC's Master.

I mean there was a book that details what happened when the exile went to find Revan.

Obsidian does a fantastic job of making sequels! I mean just look at Fallout New Vegas. They just aren't the best story tellers :P

Personally I found the story in Kotor 2 to be a little convoluted and the beginning space station sequence a bit of a bore...
3 Prophets Packs ftw

Restored Content Mod helps out a lot with the issues in KOTOR 2.  The end is improved, and the rest of the story is much better.  Less buggy, too.  Combine that with the much better gameplay, KOTOR 2 comes out on top for me.  Hopefully, these guys can get some traction with their project, would love to see another great story in this line.

Exactly, and I feel similarly.

There was. Have you read it? It's terrible.
The book in question, your those who don't know, is a SW:TOR tie-in simply called Revan. Spoiler below contains basic plot outline (as I remember it). The Black Light folks have said that they are going to ignore the book, instead using the KOTOR 3 plot that Lucasarts started. Wether or not that'll go over well with EA remains to be seen (it probably won't), but with Disney revamping canon, there will likely be precedent.

Yeah. Not so great.

@Thomas Hunter - Everything you mentioned in the spoilers is considered canon and is used as the basis for the timeline in The Old Republic, so I highly doubt anything deviating too far from that would ever stand a chance at being added to Canon. I mean Scourge himself is in the game as a companion character based on his storyline from the book, as is Revan (in the game, not a companion, lol) following the events you described. If the K3 team changes that then they're alienating the entirety of TOR.

SWTOR and a hypothetical K3 would both be C(ontinuity)-canon; considered part of the storyline but able to be contradicted by G(eorge Lucas)-canon, T(elevision, i.e. Clone Wars)-canon, or other C-canon. If K3 was launched with a storyline that contradicted SWTOR, one would be downgraded to N(on)-canon (presumably the MMO). This is actually my biggest worry about the game; I don't think EA will be keen on this type of conflict. However, Galaxies is also in an "alternate universe" (n-canon but some items, etc. from it are C-canon), so doing the same with SWTOR would not necessarily be either unprecedented or a bad idea.

Yes, I take Star Wars way too seriously.

Added another article to the OP.
