It went downhill after the final Dantooine scene - it felt like it was rushed (which, I suppose, it kinda was). The first game was consistent with the quality of its storytelling. I actually don't know if they plan to have Revan show up (since KOTOR 2 did mention he was missing, so it is canon), but I think they plan to have the Exile (the PC from 2) as the PC's Master.
I know I'm in the minority, but I actually liked KotOR 2 better than the original. I found the story more compelling.
