Starcraft 2: Now three games.

Someone at Blizzard must be extremely clever because they figured out a way to sell more copies of StarCraft II. It’s not as easy as you would think. You see, since everyone in Korea will already buy the game how can they sell more copies? Simple, by splitting the game into three parts. StarCraft is known for having three simultaneous races. So instead of giving triple the content in a single game, Blizzard has decided to give a third of the content in triple the amount of games. Blizzard’s executive vice-president of game design, Rob Pardo, explains the games as being more or less “stand-alone expansions”.

“It’s a separate product. Look at the next two as expansion packs, but will have the feel of stand alone products.”

The StarCraft II games are as follows: Terrans - Wings of Liberty, the Zerg - Heart of the Swarm, and Protoss - Legacy of the Void. Oddly enough, Blizzard hasn’t announced that StarCraft II will be sold at a discount price.

Discuss.

Well, They just lost me from buying the game. Way to go Blizzard. I don't wanna shell out 120+ for one game. I wouldn't mind if it was like brood war was. A whole dep game with 3 campains, but to have me limited to only one race per game when I wanna play all 3...

I never, ever thought I'd say this, but

WAY TO FAIL BLIZZARD.

First valve makes Half-Life 2 steam dependent, turning what could have been an unimprovable game experience into an aintipiracy-packed spyware fest, then blizzard goes and pulls this. What's next? Nintendo releasing a new SSB that costs $10 to unlock each character? I'll just keep playing Crysis and Supreme Commander.

There are two possibilities that exist here.

1). Starcraft 2 will sell for $20ish bucks and the expansions will be $10 each.
2). I will not be purchasing any of the titles until they hit the bargain bin.

Your call, Blizzard.

The sad part is you know a year or 2 after release they are gonna do the battle chest thing with all 3 for 60.

It's poor when the "battle chest" for Star Craft 2 will just be what the full version should have been. Fail.

I agree with the article. If each game has as many campaign scenarios as the original, it is justified (unless they try to sell each for $50).
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

i guess i could warm up to it and the fact that all will be availible through multi, but i think it'll still cost about $100 total.

100 bux isn't too bad for 3 full length games.
