smaller, cheaper, more energy efficient...whats not to love about the new ps3? for those of you that dont already have a ps3, will you now be buying one? follow the jump for more pics, vids, and specs!
PS3 Slim. (http://reviews.cnet.com/consoles/sony-playstation-3-slim/4505-10109_7-33765068.html)

Name a decent PS3 exclusive.
I'll be sticking with my Xbox thank you very much. Halo satisfies me enough.
-
I like the price drop that IGN reported... Finally hit the $300 mark.
Also, PS3 will soon have....
GoW3
Killzone 2 (already out)
MAG (mass multiplayer ftw)
Uncharted 2
Little Big Planet (already out)
Gran Turismo 5
Resistance 1 & 2 (Already out)
Honestly, if I had to pick one of the systems, I'd go PS3. Free multiplayer ftw.
-
ps3 can get as cool as it wants...it doesnt have halo or gears of war. X-Box will always rule while it holds exclusive rights to those games.
-
imo MAG looks lame and the PS3 doesnt have PS2 support which makes me sad but the price drop alone makes me now consider buying one for the Blue Ray Player and being able to finaly play Valkyria Chronicles!

i've shared your sentiments until now. the price drop and slimness now makes it very appealing.
the ps3 has some good exclusives, too: mgs off the top of my head, among others.
also, free multiplayer is pure wyn.
-
free multiplayer is definitely a great feature...but I wouldn't throw out all that money and not be able to play halo or gears of war...that is the only thing that makes an X-Box better for me. And I love the X-Box controller...never been a fan of the playstation controllers.

Well I guess its a good thing I'm not exactly a Halo/Gears fan. Sure they're fun, but I don't consider them the best games ever (Fallout 3, Oblivion, and STALKER takes that prize, but thats a whole different discussion).
I just have to ask. What happens when you get bored with those two games?

The Apocalypse, or the next Halo / Gears / X-box will be out.
-
lol, it seems halo will never die. halo odst next month...then halo: reach next year... :)
-
And then Halo is done after Reach according to Bungie.

Bungie is done with Halo but Halo isnt dead as a franchise.
-
i sincerely doubt bungie will ever be done with their money-maker. :)

Future Halo games will be overseen by the recently revealed 343 Industries, which is headed up by former Bungie employee Frank O'Connor.
like i said, halo will never die. :)
-
Still, bungie the company isnt going to keep making Halo. :P

Here's what people don't understand about Halo never getting old:
Those of us true Halo 3 fans that play it constantly and never get bored, play it solely for the online multiplayer. The online multiplayer can't really get old, the campaign can very quickly, but the pure greatness of Halo's online multiplayer will continue be popular and people will never get tired of it.
But once you get to the point where every game you go 20 and 3, and still lose, it does make you want to stop playing. But then you'll end up coming back later anyways.

QFT. halo never gets old. never. bungie is an excellent studio that keeps very in touch with their player base and likes to keep things fresh.
i still do play h3 occasionally, and would still be playing it as much as i did before...had it not been for halo wars. :)

Halo and Gears are two completely different games from Oblivion and Fallout 3 (which can also play on a 360 so...). When I get bored of those either I find other things to do or I play NHL 09 or Resident Evil 5.Here's what people don't understand about Halo never getting old:

I played halo wars once and thought it was cool but I could never see myself buying it...i just don't like not having a mouse. I am so used to Age of Empires for PC that i can't get used to using a 360 controller for an RTS game. Even if Bungie stops making Halo games which I will never be sold on them doing, if they could make a game as popular and successful as Halo, I am sure they can make another GREAT game! Bungie is probably the greatest video game company out there!

I was just saying that I prefer those other games, not which consoles they're for (although STALKER is a PC exclusive. :) )
-
Right...well I never played Oblivion but I played non stop fallout 3 for like 2 months...I could not stop it was so much fun but then I started getting bored of it when i reached level 20 and couldnt go any higher and killed all the Behemoth things and found all the bobbleheads...then i didnt want to start over to work on the achievements...so I traded it in to get Resident Evil 5 which has one of the greatest campaigns in any video game...the online play is poor though. But I was merely saying (though it was very indirectly and unclear ;)) is that they are so different I could hardly compare them to say which one is better you know? Its like saying Sidney Crosby is better than Christiano Rinaldo...you can't really compare.
-
I'm weird, I don't like Halo... I want a PS3...
-
How has no one mention MGS 4 yet?
-
I like x's and I like boxes so I like xbox. Plus Battlefront and Halo people keep me company.

...says the guy with a kid icarus avatar. :)
in other news, it was revealed today by kaz hirai, ceo of sony corporation, that sony will lose money with every ps3 slim sold. interesting.
-
That doesn't make much sense unless they are making games that are strictly for the Slim...
-
i believe he meant it strictly pertaining in terms to hardware alone...every ps3 slim console sold is a loss of money. however, the company makes up for it in software and peripherals sold.
-
True, I know it's all about market share when it comes to video games, but I figured that typically it was the games that made up the loss.
-
When you buy a console, you are paying for the massive R&D AND the expensive equipment (basically a computer).
When you buy a game, you are only paying for the R&D. CDs don't cost anything.
