Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword

im currently playing through TP on the Wii for the first time and i know its been around for a number of years and i wanna know what everyone thinks of the game and what aspects of the game you all either do or don't like about the game.

my opinion is: im loving the game and its a very big update since after Wind Waker and what i liked about the game is the graphics for starters and the gameplay. i have yet to find an aspect i dislike (other then the puzzles of course)

about Skyward sword: i have to say, the graphics are brighter and a bit of a downgrade since twilight princess, but the game looks VERY interesting and im hoping to purchase it and play through it soon.

anyways, what does everyone else think?

TP was painfully slow in the beginning. Even more so than other games.  Being a wolf was stupid and needed more advantages later on than just digging up stuff. Also, the graphics are waay too dark...half the time you couldn't see in the twilight world. Probably needed to adjust the brightness of my TV, but that shouldn't be necessary.  The puzzles were...not puzzling...and the map was WAY too small. Huge downgrade of Wind Waker because of this. The exploration factor was null in TP. In Wind Waker you had so much to discover, but could also get places very quickly. The bosses weren't difficult at all (of course they seldom are for Zelda games, but there are a few now and then...). Overall, TP was one of my least favorite Zelda games. The uniqueness factor being a wolf didn't do anything, whereas in games like Ages/Seasons/Ocarina/Wind Waker you use them all the time.

Skyward Sword looks delicious.  The watercolor backround is awesome, the giant map is back, and you get to ride a dragon. I'm hoping the wii motion plus will be good, but I'm skeptical. I'll be picking it up after Christmas. IGN gave it a ten.

and you get to ride a dragon.
is that right? well, bye bye Epona lol seriously, i enjoyed the horseback riding but what did you think of the idea of swordfighting on horseback? couldn't do that in ocarina of time lol

Fighting on TP was pretty boring, IMO. I pretty much just rode around on my horse the whole time and ran past the bad guys. I loved the bridge showdown though.

Which is why you need the exploration factor in a Zelda game. Or at least a uniqueness factor.

It still was a pretty good IMO. I will admit  the wolf parts added very little but it still had some awesome items (double hookshot is addictive)

I've played all the Zelda games except the DS ones (I don't own that system), and Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are at the bottom of the list.  Only Zelda 2 is lower, even though I've replayed that 75% through.  My gripes?
Wind Waker was VERY slow travel between islands.  I found that fact alone to make the game tedious and boring. I started to replay it, but the thought of all that sailing was off putting.

Twilight Princess was so dull...I barely remember the game...at all.  Plus, I have hardly had an inkling to replay it.

With me, everything is compared to Ocarina of Time.  Hopefully, Skyward Sword will reach that potential/success (hoping to get it for Christmas).  In addition to first play through, I judge games by their replayable possibilities.

My list of console games:

MM
SS
OoT
WW
TTP

inb4haters
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

I never really had a problem with difficulty in Skyward Sword, though now that I'm playing it through on Hero Mode, it was really tough up until I got the heart medal. The final boss would have been really hard, but there's those invincibility potions that last for, what, 5 minutes? A few of the puzzles were tricky though. I never really had a problem with the silent realm, I just used the beacons to mark a couple and left those until I found the rest, or until the flower was about to die. They were a nice change of pace for the game...you couldn't just hack your way through it. *shrug*

I suggest going through it blind. One thing connects to the rest pretty well, and you'll notice things that you'll need for a later time.

But I thoroughly enjoyed SS.

For fighting Demise I didn't find it very hard at all. I never got hit and by that point in the game you know how to time it in order to hit him

Bah. Timing takes too long. Swing randomly and viciously!

This is how my 9 y.o. son beat the game...especially Demise.  I told him if he was going to do that, then drink the Guardian potion plus (aka Invincibility potion).  Otherwise, timing was the wisest move.

Overall, I found it a fun game with a great storyline (including the implied "marriage" of Link & Zelda). I'm not confident that it knocked Ocarina of Time off its perch as my favorite, but it is pretty close.  Other than that, I've agreed with everything Andrew as said so far.
