Entry (ran out of time to do major switching):
As I wrestled back and forth of what is more powerful in T2, drawing (Disciples) or searching (Prophets), I decided that sites & common counters would make drawing have the edge. Therefore, I decided to go with an old deck idea of mine Disciples/Egyptians. I know its odd, but I didn't have time to switch out. Admittedly, Romans could be a better fit on D. However, I wanted to get "something" in for those who don't have a deck yet.
My early draft will be 25/40/40
14 Lost souls (revealers, */4s, Female onlys, 2/3-Liners, Wanderers....usual stuff)
1 hopper
2 Ends of the Earth
Holy Grail
Lampstand
Crown of Thorns
Four Drachma coin
Chariot of Fire
Golden Cherubim
Holy of Holies
Neutral Enhancement: 7 Years of Plenty
Good Cards
4 good dominants (SoG, NJ, Grapes, Angel)
The New Covenant
6 Forts (Fishing boat x2, Herod's Temple x2, Storehouse, Garden Tomb)
15 Disciples (all 11, these 4 will have 2 copies: Phil, Matt., James son of Alpheus, Thad)
Fishers of Men x3
AoCP x4
My Lord and My God x3
Reach x4
Offense: I plan to use the strength of the disciples banding, Phil/Bart, and Thad abuse as prominent ideas. Garden Tomb is an added bonus. One of the reasons, I decided on Disciples was because of Fishers of Men. Fishers of Men will deprive the opponent of cards they need while presenting lost souls pre-battle.
Defense:
5 evil doms (CM, Burial, FA, Vain Philosophy, Mayhem)
3 Forts (Pharoah's Throne room x2, Pithom)
Unknown Nation
Captured Ark
2 Amelekites Slave
2 Egyptian Magicians
4 Egyptian Archers
Egyptian Horsemen
Jannes
The Dreaming Pharaoh
Potiphar's Wife
Queen Tahpenes
2 Pharoah's Cupbearer
Pharoah's Baker
2 Beheaded
4 Egyptian Horses
2 Failed Objectives
3 Swift Horses
3 Wonders Forgotten
This version of the Defense is just meant to stall. It compliments the offense in its drawing and production of Lost Souls. It does a little bit of sniping of Heroes and Decks, but not enough to build a strategy around. It's 2 biggest weaknesses are FBTN or a generic banding defense (hence why Wall of Protection was in the early version of this deck.) An Egypt site was pulled to put in Holy of Holies. What is great about this defense is that it helps the offense so much in production of lost souls. The above offense needs to set up fast and have something to go for...nobody likes to lose because of soul drought. This defense is fast (in case an opponent's deck keeps your offense from drawing and you NEED all of your disciples) and that may be enough to keep the game in your favor.
It is an unlikely pairing from what I have seen of late, but I think it has potential. However, I am biased by my playstyle: to hit hard and fast. Sorry for the lack of combo, but that's not really my style.
