Priests offense

So I made this offense as one of my offenses to just swap in and out with the same defense for testing purposes. I have always loved teal but it never had enough, in my opinion. So I made this offense not for testing purposes for me to consider a possibility to play with at nationals, but to see how to play against it and what teal can do. Well, it beat one of my national possible deck choices two out of two times so I decided to post it.

These cards that are not necessarily good are included in the build to see what I use.

Ram's Horn x3
Aaron's Staff
Ark of the Covenant
U&T

Scapegoat

The Ends of the Earth

TSC, GoyS, AotL, SoG, GotL, GoW, 3W, DoN I only have one Valley of Dry Bones and it's in my (now scraped) possible national contender decks so that could go in here as well.

The Tabernacle

You Will Remain (I want to fit another)
New Covenant (convert all evil humans, topdeck and d1)

Light in the Darkness
Jordan Interrupted- PoC (I want another but have one mono-teal in reserve)
His Name is John
Bearing Our Sin
Pentecost x2
His Name x2 (I like this, I like the star ability but it can be swapped- maybe Trumpet and Sword)
Zeal for the Lord x3
Gifts and Offering x3

Dutiful Priest x4
Captive Priest x3
Joshua
Ithamar
Aaron, God's Mediator
Phineas teal/red
Zadok teal/red
Ahimaaz teal/red
Zechariah, the Renewer
Jeremiah, Hope Bringer
Eleazar (somehow forgot one of the studs of the offense, I would never play only 15 heroes lol)

Reserve: Zeal, Gifts and Offerings, His Name is John, Jordan Interrupted (mono-teal)

So there are the obvious plays but I will list them anyway.
The main focus of the deck is to always have CBI/N heroes and enhancements with initiative or interrupts.
His Name is John, Phineas, Ram's Horn, Joshua, Aaron's Staff (to give Tabernacle Priests CBN) and Dutiful Priest all give initiative or CBN/I. Dutiful Priest, His Name is John then Gifts and Offerings really can't be stopped and it can keep coming out plus Ram's Horn really makes for a tough rescue. His Name is also awesome as CBI or Joshua/Jordan Interrupted. Urim and Thummim also help to set up all of my rescues as needed. Aaron's Staff is so underrated, it is easy to have 5 Tabernacle Priests out and it constantly hit their deck for top 5, I get to choose an evil card to discard, get out a lost soul, which is also underrated since a lot of LS abilities are not triggered by being placed, then grants all my Tabernacle Priests abilities CBN, it's awesome. The deck sets up very fast too due to the heroes, Pentecost, and ways to get out The Tabernacle. Aaron's Staff consistently and playing both His Name's really limits my opponents options. I can RA, get out a lost soul, d/c an evil card off their deck then play a CBI His Name to reserve another evil card, that's getting rid of two evil cards and winning a battle in one turn. New Covenant with His Name is John and the Tabernacle is also insane. The enhancement top decks itself plus I can keep swapping out for His Name is John to make it CBN. A lot of good ways to rescue, Bearing Our Sin plus YWR (like I said I want Valley and another YWR) plus Grapes is a potential for 5 extend the battles. It's just tough to stop this deck with all the initiative, versatility and getting rid of evil cards off the top of their deck. Like I said, Aaron's Staff is severely underrated. This offense keeps attacking and you are forced to block but then you do not replenish your defense and this offense, theoretically, can't be stopped due to granted CBI and Gifts and Offering, not much can stop that. I like the hero options but I would like a little bit more banding, but with another YWR and Valley I do not think it is necessary. The offense, like always with teal, can be a little slow and I have found at times I could use a D3 and I sometimes do not have them, but on paper it has decent speed. Pentecost x2, Gifts off Dutiful D2, Jordan Interrupted D3 ( I might need x2 of that one in main deck) helps with a little bit of drawing, but in today's type 2 world it still seems a little slow. I am sure I missed some key plays or cards, like I said, this was not meant to be a serious deck, more so just to see how teal is running right now but this pleasantly surprised (and hurt me) at the same time.

You're missing a key priest. I won't disclose which one. But it's an oldy but a goody

Having run a similar deck last year, I 100% agree on Aaron's Staff. CBN Dutiful is pretty great.

Surprised not to see Eleazar. He grabs two of your best heroes and U&T, can set up infinite recursion with Tabernacle, and makes the mill on Staff CBN. Seems pretty good.
ANB is good. Change my mind.

Guess you'll have to come up to NC Regionals to find out. ::)

Yeah Seraiah seems good with this.  Although he can be auto-blocked by 'the best EC in the game' - Pagan Sailors.  :)

Eleazar is in the deck, just must have missed him in the list, that’s definitely the guy John was referring to. I’ll edit and add thanks. Seraiah was considered but didn’t make the cut, which is refreshing after all these years to have to make decisions on heroes in teal.

Also IIRC you can in fact have 2 new Jordan Interrupted and still have an old one in Reserve. I know when I was running a similar deck last year I confirmed that I could run two of both Pi and FoM Phineas (although I didn't actually do it), and I've seen decks run two of both CoW and Pr Confusion.

Seraiah, the High Priest

I don't know if things are different in T2, but in T1, experience has taught me that characters just in the deck to play enhancements (1/1s for inish, or characters like Users of Curious Arts/King Ahaz/etc) are really bad because they provide no value when they enter play/battle.  They only let you burn your fuel (enhancements) easier.  Fuel is finite though.

Fairly certain the Seraiah comment was a joke- being that Seraiah is probably the last priest I'd ever want to run. But that is an accurate summation of the little guys not named King Zed, Hannah, Fearless Traveler, etc.
If you were to go on a trip... where would you like to go?

I find that you need 2 things to make a strong deck.

1. Ways to generate 'Fuel' (card advantage)
2. Ways to use 'Fuel' (card advantage) to make successful blocks/rescue attempts

Now depending on the theme of the deck these can take different forms...but a 1/1 that can play CBN enhancements is decent example of #2.  You just need to make sure that you include enough cards that can do #1 to balance it out, such as pairing it with a draw heavy defense, perhaps.  In fact, I would say that having enough #1 is going to be the main challenge for this deck regardless of whether Saraiah is included (and Mr.Hiatus already said this in a way when he called it 'slow') because of it's reliance on Ram's Horn to make CBN rescue attempts as that will guarantee that you are down at least 2 cards (Ram's Horn + Battle Winner) if you win.
Life is what you make of it.

Seraiah needs the same support as Dutiful but Dutiful doesn’t kill himself against a popular defense, gets automatic initiative, and gives me ‘fuel’ if I play gifts and offerings. The Tabernacle helps with keeping the fuel going, but yes, I find that I do have 1-2 enhancements in my hand at all time.

Any consideration for House of Prayer? My similar deck ran 2 of the main enhancements each in deck and reserve, but I notice you're 3/1. Being able to basically Tabernacle to deck seems like it could be good.

Not sure it's worth it for you but last year I ran with David the shepherd and Ahimaaz in my teal list with jehoiadas strength in reserve for another recursive Tabernacle target. Captured priest in multiples and ezra's journey is also pretty fun. Getting set up with teal always seemed to be the biggest issue I had. If it gets rolling it's great but it seemed like chump blocks are really good against teal. Not sure how much the new set changes that. Maybe I just bad luck in some games though?
