Title: Need help with Type 2 deck
Post by: Deist on July 21, 2010, 12:07:53 AM
So when I first read Abom... I thought ...this card is AWESOME

So I want to build a deck around it. I have not decided on the exact number of any card.

Cards I am considering for the offence

Gold
Zaccheus
The Generous Woman
The Woman at the Well
Martha

Meeting the Messiah

White
Mary (RoA)
Salome
Lydia
Susanna

He is Risen

Green
Hur

Teal
Phinehas Son of Eleazar
Joshua the High Priest

Zeal for the Lord.
Arts for consideration
Gifts of the Magi
Unknown Nation
Captured Ark
Unholy Writ
Darius Decree
Samaritan Water Jar
Temple Veil
The Bronze Laver
U&T

Fortress
House in Bethany
High Places
Philistine Outpost
WoP
Jerusalem Tower

Defense
Antiochus IV
The Winged Leopard
Fallen Warrior (ki)
Greek Philosophers
12FG
Philly ArmorBearor
Philly Garrison

Abom
Danites Attack
JiP
Land Dispute
Devourer (wa)
Foolish Advice

So any thoughts. Cards I should consider or take out? Should I try to fit sites in here?

I would add in Good Samaritan x2-3 to run with 3 water jars. A few israelite archers wouldn't hurt either. I would also cut no need for spices and the green offense and add in teal. Teal is great in T2 with Phinehas, Joshua, Zeal and U&T. I would not use unknown nation, HT, A-pole or G-calf. I am grace is never a bad idea either. Also, the only fortresses i would include are outpost and high places. Run a philly defense with 2 to 3 each of bringing fear, devourer, and foolish advice. You could also put in 5 land disputes and some sites to help on defense. I would just splash in 5 or 6 greeks with 3 aboms.

I figured Hur + Gifts would help card draw and abom. No need for spices seems really good. Is there a reason not to run it? Are the Water Jars that good?

Thanks for the input.

Gifts + Hur is a good idea. You need some non-negateable battle winners in your deck, so having both no need for spices and he is risen is not a good idea. He Is Risen is the better choice since it can interrupt and set aside several cards. Water jars are amazing in T2.

Unknown Nation and Go into Captivity is pretty tough in T2.  I'd x3 both of those.

Unknown nation can be helpful, but usually doesn't make the cut in my decks. I would avoid Go into Captivity if you are going to use Writs also. If you rely too much on capture you will be in trouble when your opponent flips over blue tassels.

I agree with Adotson that Go Into Captivity isn't that great in t2. Although Unknown Nation does help a bunch, and I see it commonly. (Probably not needed with Phillies though beings you can just grab whatever ec you need).

Updated a bit.

Do I really want to throw away the draw potential/ search/ and activations on abom for the CNB + U&T that teal gives me?

I would keep Hur, but get rid of the rest of the green offense.

If you're trying for an all green offense, I'd talk to RedemptionRocks.  He had one of the best t2 all green offenses i'd ever seen.

Ya I am not going to go pure green. I suppose I could cut the rest to make room for teal.
