As of today I am giving up the Elders offense  :'(
I find this rather sad.

In type 1 it seems like the number of different offenses that are tournament viable has gone up significantly in the last 5 years.  5 years ago, FBN, Silver, and Purple were probably the only tournament viable offenses.  Now, brigades that were useless (or didn't exist yet) back then [Red (banding), Green (prophets), Gold (Luke), White (TGT), Teal (Z-temple), Blue (Genesis)] are all seen in top decks around the country.

Yet, during this time of expansion in variety of T1, has there been the opposite effect in T2?  Or is the loss of the Elders offense an anomaly?

Elders aren't dead. Kevin Shride rocked an Elders deck at IA State.

Joey, if you set up RTS I'd be glad to play some T2 with you sometime. :)

We need to set up a game too so your teal/tomb deck can pwn mine. :)

Elders are not dead at all, just not widely used. Why use elders when you can come out and ignore the guy before they block?

Blue is widely played, either straight Zebulun, or straight Genesis (not the same thing), green prophets, but I don't see them in GA or TN, Purple both NT and OT ignores with Throne of David/I Am Love, Teal- straight power, or Z Temple, White nt females or TGT kinda different, Red does not see much play, gold- I use Israelite Archers/I Am Healing as well as Samaritans/Water Jar's in most decks and Meeting the Messiah x5, silver is only splashed, and of course a mix of the above. There is the same diversity in type 2 as there is in type 1.

I ended up keeping white, but going back to my old school Transfig deck, I'll have to be a lot more careful with all the CBN stuff out there... I may pair it with a Sadducee defense so I can have a Urim and Thummim in there... also at this point my brown defense is exposed to my AOCs unless I draw a purple site for my color guard LSs

Elders aren't dead.

Very true. Gabe and Schaef are very much alive. I think.

Transfig decks can still be pretty consistently annoying if you use the Garden girls and throw in a He Is Risen and Gabriel.
Use the Mad Bomber to rescue his Province.

Yeah, I'm doing great.  And since the "other Prof" is currently on his honeymoon, I'm gonna go ahead and say that he's doing great as well :)

I mean I guess this could always help, but you should always be attacking with a gathered elders chain to TSA, or play Blessings. I do not see Urim helping too much, at least not enough to where it makes you switch defenses.

I'm playing Transfig, without elders and without TGT, I've got Lydias, Jairius', Woman of Wisdom...
so I wont always be doing the same thing...

With a Ben Hadad in territory and knowledge of a Naaman (8/7) in their hand, I'm not likely to pull a transfig or Moses + Cov, I would be more likely to attack with Elijah + AoC.

Plus with Elijah's protection from d/c and Lydia's protection from capture, hand knowledge could lend me and easy or easier fight, if not perhaps a walkthrough (oh look, you have nothing but a Zimri).

As for the defense, I REALLY would prefer to keep Brown Mr Hiatus, I really would, but after two games of blowing up multiple foul spirits, Uzzah, Zedekiah, Ahaz, Gomer... it's getting old. In type 1 you just count the cost on AoC (I have 3 souls, SoG in hand... yeah I'll play it), in type 2 blowing up your on-field defense for 1 of 7 souls is rarely worth it.

So I think it's gonna be Transfig + Saducees for 1) Urim and Thummim and 2) High Priest's Palace for protection.

So you are playing Transfiguration without Elders?  ??? Are you playing with Blessings? You should at least have a couple Salome/Mary and Blessings/He Is Risen in there.

Unlike apparently everybody and their uncles I don't have stacks of garden tomb cards, lol. My wife has had a garden tomb deck since Ohio nationals and that is where our only copy of TGT cards are. I use primarily Lydia, Jairus Daughter, and Woman of Wisdom just because I had tons of copies of them from old type 2 decks.

The most fun part of the deck is my 3 Johny the Bs and 4 copies of Spirit as a Dove. I may throw some TSAs in there for Spirit to pull out in case of a Calf, or worse... an A-pole.
