Discussion on the use of a "3rd active artifact" in T2 MP.

In all of my current T2 MP decks, I have the potential to have 3 artifacts active at once. 1 as a regular art, 1 in a Tabernacle/Temple and 1 that can get placed elsewhere. With the frequent use of Captured Ark in T2 MP decks, I feel it is a huge advantage being able to have 3 artifacts, particularly if the "3rd artifact" is a highly useful card (for example, my main T2 MP deck uses some Pharisees so I have High Priests Palace and a couple Unholy Writs, a great card for MP).

The one drawback I see to this strategy is that I end up including a lot of artifacts in my MP deck which takes away from slots to use for more Heroes or more battle winners. This becomes a bigger problem when other players use cards like A New Beginning which forces me to get "set-up" again. My offense and defense are not reliant on the artifacts I'm using, but they are both stronger when I have the ones I need.

So, your thoughts on the "3rd active artifact" strategy--worth it or not?

I have made such decks for 2P, (including one that could have 6 up for a priest-sadds deck I tried), but I tend to go with speedier decks for MP that just have defensive artifacts (UW, GiC, UN, GotE).  Also, since they're almost all curses, they don't take away from my good card count, and usually can only be activated 1 or 2 at a time anyways, and only really last a round or two.

I think 3 artifacts could work if the rest of the deck is fast enough to recover from the shuffle.  Since there aren't any T2 players that use ANB in CA, and nobody really wants to use it on RTS, I don't really fear it, but it would have been a problem at Nats, where I think more T2 MP players had ANB than didn't.  Are there any ways to protect arts from shuffle?

Most of the time I feel like having an extra way - and especially multiple extra ways - to activate artifacts is unnecessary unless the cards you need to do so are already in your deck and the artifacts that you will be able to activate are relevant to your strategy, like with ZT and Lampstand or HPP and Unholy Writ, or in cases where your superspecialawesome combo needs to have certain temple artifacts active to work to its fullest. However, in most decks, I would say that adding in a temple or tabernacle is unneeded.

I personally like the idea of having 3 artifacts up.  Alot of times I get a stack of unused artifacts in my pile because I can only have 1 on at a time.  Unholy Writ is a staple of my decks and being able to have that turned on, as well as something else is very beneficial for me.

i would drop the tabernacle... especially if you are playing multi. because these days you are going to get shuffled, and it will be a while until you get them all set back up. i guess it really depends on the offense too.  but i think being able to stick up a writ or a thirty pieces of silver would be so much more helpful.

How about adding Book of the Covenant "Holder may activate two covenants on this artifact "
Then, two of your artys can be covenants that you can use elsewhere in a pinch. Also, if you're skillfull, you can get up to 4 artifacts at once. All depending on your draws and your opponent's moves, which would make Sun Zu proud.
