I don't think you need 2 copies of Shechem. He's decent if you've got some self capture stuff going on - But since you don't I'd sub out at least 1 for a King of Tyrus. I'm also a fan of Darkness, Goliath and Uzzah. I'm not sure what I'd cut for them, but I'd try to get them in.

I would also consider putting in another Sisera and a couple Joseph in Prisons to help against banding chains. Any idea what offense you will be using?

Agreed - I'd cut a single Gib Trick, and then either both Schecems, or both Abimilech, depending on your offence - I'd put in 2 Joe in Prison's and a Sisera. I'd also consider dropping the 2 Babel's for an Uzzah and that King of Tyrus I mentioned earlier.

Just remember that Tower won't help you as much if you have Goliath out there, as he is not Canaanite.

On Shechem, he can be very useful.  Consider adding Canaan and/or Gibeonite Curse to add some captured characters to your LoB, then ship them over (also, if you used Canaan you can put their hero in their own LoB eventually, preventing them from putting that hero down again).

In addition, don't forget the usefulness of Shechem verses an annoying Garden/anything deck :)

To be honest, if you remove anything, I would remove a Jezebel.  Sure, she can remove green prophets from the game, but she's bigger and grants initiative for the many interrupts those decks will be playing, even if they aren't running Caves.

While this is true, he's one of the best EC's in the game, and he fits the brigade that he's playing.

Tower will still protect the Canaanites in it, as well as granting Woman her play first ability. Losing the negate if and only if you ever need to use Goliath, and he survives more than a fight or two, is well worth it.

You mean the complete uselessness? Shechem isn't CBI, and any Garden deck worth its salt will have at least 2 'He is Risen' 's in there.

You don't need to capture one in battle.  I have before, with no battle-winners in hand, blocked a band of women or disciples (ESPECIALLY when they send disciples) to capture women left in territory then promptly die without passing initiative.  They can only ITB to stop it if it defeats a character in the battle, so they have to actually negate him to stop it.

That of course only discusses the capture portion of the ability, and he has a lot more value in rescuer's choice if you use sites (especially Canaan and Hormah, both Canaanite and targeted by Fortify Site).

Wonderful, so you captured a hero that they weren't using - And then died and gave up a soul? Doesn't sound like an efficient use of a blocker to me... Now, if he was using Raiders Camp, then I'd agree with you. But right now Shechem is going to be hard-pressed to get a block. If your opponent knows that you're using Canaanites, and makes the mistake of allowing you to use Shechem to manipulate the Lost Soul they're going after, then he might, occasionally be useful, but if your opponent is making mistakes like that, you've probably already won anyway.

You should have 2x Gib curse. I would take out Gib delgates and Captured Ark (depending on what you use for offense). I agree with the others that JiP is a good add and would suggest asherah pole too.

As far as Shechem goes, I have personal experience to justify its usefulness to me and I thought I would pass it along :)

I would recommend against using 2 Gib Curses just from experience with it.  In my games with it in my deck in T2, I think I have used it efficiently once, even with 2 (or especially with 2) in the deck.  It may seem like a great idea, but I'd bet that if you played with 2, you'd remove at least one after a few games.

Also, I love Gibeonite Delegates due to their discard protection and their small numbers (especially to play Trickery), but if you're pressed you may not need 4.  And I find JiP to be a good friend indeed, as the others have pointed out.

Why KoT? Also Raiders camp and Shechem is probably not going to work good for you as the capture is negatable and Siege Army is all over.

Blocking with KoT is basically handing a soul to most offenses in T2 especially Judges the most common offense.  I'd cut ark and raiders camp for 2x Gib curse.  Not a fan of Shechum at all,  I'd cut the Shechums for Lot's Daughters.

As I posted before, Shechum is incredibly useful when utilized properly.  He has helped me win in T2 in my experience :)

As for Lot's Daughters, if you're going for initiative in the first battle, you're better off with Delegates with no strength.  If you're going for the fact that they can get big, all you'll end up doing is passing initiative every battle very quickly and stopping yourself from playing 2 CBN battle winners (Stone and Trickery) since they do not interrupt.

I agree that he's basically handing a soul to most offences. However, He's better than not blocking at all - He's disruptive to the non-Gold/Red offences, messes with Banding, and is still among the best first turn blockers.

None of us are arguing that he's useful when utilized properly - We're simply stating that he's not being used properly in the deck as its built right now.

Oh, I do not disagree.  You would want some more capture (Gib Curse or Writ) to take advantage of his ability.  I was more responding to the 'not a fan of Shechum' part, as I find him to be very useful and would recommend using him still, especially over a second Jezebel.  Her ability is unfortunately less useful and you'd have more individual characters in the deck to block with.

I will personally vouch for the effectivness of Redoubters Canaanites defense, Our T2 Meta is still struggling to bring it down.

ASAs being so common is Canaanites biggest weakness.  Territory is just so wide open when playing Assyrians as you cannot load up tower for protection.  The biggest plus w/ Canaanites is great inish, and two solid CBN winners.  I think its a top 2-3 defense.   No defense is going to be amazing this year.  No defense is going to be on par with what Pharisees and Creepers were last year.  No defense this year can have to speed of Pharisees with CwD, and the ls generation/CwD ended Creepers (both good things).  Add in the fact that ASA easily crushes a lot of the main tech of certain high powered offenses, and sets up Charms/Writs very nicely.  Offenses are much more diverse, and have more speed than last year.  More than 2 offenses probably have a good shot this season (again a very good thing).  Heck the second and third best offenses from last season are weak compared to the top stuff this season (good thing).    Funny thing is Assyrians/magicians were already the third best t2 defense last year and they got the biggest boost out of anything while the top two took some big hits.  Adding two great characters to an already solid defense pushed PG to the top.  But, I guess we'll see what happens at the T2 Only.  That will set the stage for the rest of the season.

I feel like I am going to be sick of Assyrians after playing them for 7 straight rounds.  ;)
