For a typical type 1 deck what is a good amount of different brigade colors?

In general I prefer to use three brigades or fewer because of the many defensive cards that work better when the opponent has multiple good brigades (Emperor Vitellius, Provoked, Broken Covenant, Punisher LS).

However, some deck strategies are strongest when you have an offense with 5 or 6 different brigades despite the potential drawbacks.

Thx!  I am thinking of an RoJ/Cow deck theme.

It has been tough to run a single brigade offence that is good enough to compete with the elite spread offences that are out there.

With that being said, I think that the new sets have made it a little easier.

Clay, Silver (Revelation angels), White (The Garden Tomb) and Purple (Disciples / The Garden Tomb) all have the potential to be used on their own.

Personally, I always use more than one brigade. I like the spread offenses, taking the best of the best and making them work together has proven to be the best over the last few years.

I think there will be more mono-offenses than ever before this year. But if I was a betting man, I would bet that none of them make top cut at nats.

I'd pick a theme (The Garden Tomb Disciples, Clay, The Garden Tomb Ladies, Moses, Martyrs, Rev Angels, The Throne of David, Priests, Speed, Prophets, Job) and build from there not worrying too much about the number of brigades.

It's almost impossible to be pure now. I don't recommend building an offense by starting with a brigade, but a strategy.
