The Deck Chronic Apathy hates

Well with Chronic Apathy posting the deck he used at the PA district, I thought I'd post the one I used that he has an irrational hatred of.  Just like him I'll be retiring the deck I used for now, but for an entirely different reason, it's been so much fun to play that, assuming I get most the cards I need for Christmas and the rest off trading Goliath, I'll be converting the offense to a type II deck.  The deck either got second or third (I can't remember) at the tournament, and if I had drawn some evil enhancements in my game against Chronic Apathy, it  might have taken first.

Deck Total: 54

Lost Souls: 8
hopper
female only
N.T. only
Punisher
Anti-Burial
Shuffler
2-liner
Speed Bump

Dominants: 10
Burial
Mayhem
Christian Martyr
Falling Away Destruction of Nehushtan
Angel of the Lord
Grapes of Wrath
Guardian of Your Souls
Son of God
New Jerusalem

Artifacts: 5
Magic Charms
Samaritan Water Jar
Hezekiah's Signet Ring
Gifts of the Magi
Chariot of Fire

Heroes: 8
Good Samaritan
Martha
Lazarus
The Generous Widow
The Thankful Leper
The Woman at the Well
Watchful Servant
Sower

Good Enhancements: 8
A New Creation
Convincing Miracle
Fishers of Men
Kindness
Meeting the Messiah
Repentance and Restitution
Faith as a Mustard Seed
Ambush the City

Evil Characters: 6
King Manasseh
Damsel with Spirit of Divination
Egyptian Magicians
Astrologers
Enchanter
Balaam

Evil Enhancements: 8
Achan's Sin
Confusion
Disturbing Samuel's Spirit
Invoking Terror
Death of Unrighteous
Divination
Forgotten History
Two Thousand Horses

Fortresses: 1
House in Bethany

Its not an optimized deck by any means, but its the only deck I've ever won a tournament with, and its most fun deck I've ever played.  Any advice for if I use it again in the future would be welcome.

Well I have a winning record with the deck, and I've done better at tournaments with it than other decks, so I guess they at least work for me.

What happens if your opponent has a KoT?

I've run into that, AoTL, Grapes or Kindness and/or Faith as a Mustard Seed When on the Thankful Leper when their deck is low, or Ambush the City since its CBN.  He is a problem, but I've gotten around him before.

No the worst game was when I played against a Panic Demon deck, I had to deck him out and watchful servant him.

I was wondering because I have never seen this played except with A-Bomb.

What do you do against a sitelock or a Kings of Israel defense?

lose quite honestly.  There are no sitelock decks (at least not that I know of) in the meta I've played in, and I don't have an ends of the earth which is what I'd probably use.

Fall like Lightning would help against KoT, but it's pretty situational.

As far as sites go, The Woman at the Well, Water Jar, and Hopper, can get around that, but it's still cutting it dangerously close.

I'll say it before and I'll say it again - Luke heroes don't really work right now. They have a lot going for them, but as it stands, they just don't have the oomph necessary to being strong. If you'd really like to keep using them in the future, change the focus of the deck. Make the defense stronger to compensate for the extra drawing your offense will be creating for your opponent, add some Greeks to use Abom, and worry more about lasting until your opponent decks out, then using Generous Widow and Watchful Servant to win in the late game.

Abomb is even worse this season.  There's just too many cards that can target it easily.

True, but there's no reason not to use it if you're already using a Luke offense.

Greeks aren't really worth the slots unless you're already using Phillies.  (Dunno about Cannanites myself)

Well, the same argument could be used for Luke in general. However, for a Luke deck, you almost have to use Abom.

Hey if I'm going to go insane in the offenses I choose to play, there's no reason I should be rational about the defenses.

...that's the exact argument I just used for why you should play Abom.

Actually the real reason I don't play Abom is I don't have/like greeks

I would drop Disturbing Samuel's Spirit and House in Bethany for Uzzah and Three Nails for help with demon splashes. Maybe fit in more ECs, otherwise looks good to me. :)

Imo the new way to play Abom is less "stick around and discard ALL the things" and more "use it once for a major blast and then if it sticks around all the better." I even used it this way back when Abom was good; mid-or-late-game, drop Abom, return your guy set aside with Feast of Trumpets, play Meeting the Messiah, play Mayhem, attack with TGW, activate Dinarius if your opponent's hand is low, then attack with Martha or TGW. That's 5-6 discards at once before your opponent can do anything about it, which generally clears the way for an easy few walk-ins.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

I've never played Abom, but that sounds about the way I'd do it. Very nice idea.

Just FYI, people generally frown upon necroposting (posting on old topics). It's not a big deal and there's no harm in it-just forum etiquette  :).

PS: Welcome to the Boards!

This topic is just over a month old, which hardly constitutes necroposting (and even if it does, that's perfectly fine in this forum where sometimes deck archetypes don't get posted for months at a time). Plus, this topic was recently linked in a different topic entirely. He's fine. Plus, and this goes without saying, the topic has my name in the title; I'm tempted to sticky it. ;)
