Hey, all:
Can anyone tell me what the seven Lost Souls standard to any tournament-worthy deck would be? Also, has the new "deck discard" Lost Soul become a tournament standard yet?
Thanks!
-
Unlike dominants, there really are no "standard" lost souls because deck strategy dictates them a lot. However, almost everyone who uses sites is using the "deck discard LS" due to Hormah and the site remove ls.
-
There aren't 7 "standard" lost souls. The only ones I would say are standard are the Wanderer, Female Only, and NT Only.
The Deck Discard soul is far from standard. I've only seen it played in Egyptian/Discard decks.
Message to Cameron: I see the "Hand Discard" used with Hormah a lot. Never the Deck Discard.

Commonly used LSs include:
Women-only
NT-only
*/4-only
Revealer
Hopper
3-Liner (or 2-Liner)
First-Round Protect
-
A good guide would be as follows:
Type 1-2 player (0 sites)
Wanderer
two-liner
Shuffler
NT only
Women only
Revealer
Anti-Burial/Speed bump/Shame/Same book/Same Testament/CBP/anti-ignore- depending up on your style of play
Type 1-2 player (with sites)
Wanderer
two-liner
NT only
Women only
hand discard
Site doubler
Deck Discard/Anti-Burial/Speed bump/Shame/Same book/Same Testament/CBP/anti-ignore - depending up on your style of play
Type 1-Multiplayer
Wanderer
three-liner (and ONLY the three liner, Not the Two Liner)
NT only
Women only
Same Book
Cannot Be Prevented
Revealer/Deck Discard/Anti-Burial/Speed bump/Shame/Same Testament/anti-ignore - depending up on your style of play
Feel Free to agree/disagree. Notice that the only ones that are in all these decks are the NT/Women and Wanderer LS's due to their unique abilities. Until we see more NT/Women Decks (Read: Less Genesis/Judges/Priest decks) I think those LS's will ontinut to be essential. But others that could be almost essential could be the CBP LS and/or the Shame LS. I like Shames ability but its weakness is a first round Pull which seems to happen a lot to me.

The LS I typically use in a T1 2P deck:
NT only
Female only
Wanderer
Shuffler
Revealer
Speed Bump
Anti-Burial
-
wow. im surprised to see that the 'punisher' ls is not standard for t1 2p.
-
I dont play with it, but since a lot of type 1- 2 player decks are three brigades or less, I am not surprised that it was not in my lists.
I probably should have included that one in my multiplayer options though because you are much more likely to see it used effectively in a multiplayer deck.
-
Okay, thanks everyone! I would have thought Lost Souls like the "deck discard" would be useful in any deck, but I guess it does depend on your deck strategy.
-
Punisher is standard for MP (T1 or T2) but not quite as useful in 2P IMO.
-
i suppose it depends on your meta. its considerably useful against speed/fbtn/one-trick-pony decks...which seem to be the norm for t1 2p.
-
Then again, I haven't built a new T1 2P tournament deck in a long time either... :P
-
The cbp lost soul is absolutely necessary, like the nt only and female only; it can do some bad things to people. Justin can testify to this. ;)
-
I only think the NT only and Female only should be in every deck. The others depend on the deck.
For the two decks I checked in for T1 2p at Regionals this past weekend, I used the following souls:
Deck 1:
Revealer
NT only
Female only
*/4
Can't Be Prevented
Shame
3-line
Shuffler
Deck 2:
NT only
Female only
Can't Be Prevented
2-line
Shuffler
Site Doubler
Punisher
Speedbump

The Wanderer LS is the most powerful LS in the game right now. :o I don't expect that to change anytime soon.
-
Revealer
Hopper
2-Line
Women Only
NT Only
Shuffler
Cannot be Prevented (shame on all you guys with no defense) :P
wanderer

I agree that the wanderer is one of the most powerful LS in the game (aside from a well placed site immunity LS) but the Site immunity LS has no guarrantee of always being used. The wanderer is almost always used and often it can be used with great effectiveness
