I designed this deck specifically as a counter to the seemingly ever-so-popular Disciples/Pharisees decks. It's probably too big (it's just the way I build decks) but I'd be interested to see what people think, what they would take out to make this deck fo real.

Ugh... Kewl kids use disciples and "not kewl kids" use TGT, am I the only one with a non-over-used deck?
(I use red, and I counter both Disciples AND TGT.)

That aside, I like it.
One question though, why are you using Wandering Spirit with so few generic demons?

Wandering Spirit+Trembling Demon+Holy of Holies+Gates of Hell is an infinite auto-block vs. every Disciple except for Thad and James the Lesser. it's a bit complicated to setup, but definitely worth the card slot.

Needs more Buckler. Also, what kind of anti-disciple deck doesn't runner Darius' Decree?

and Pigs LS. Also I would play with more immunity because that is Thads fear.

It seems in my experience in T1 most people don't put too many Disciples in the Boat (possibly for fear of a DD); they usually rely on Matthew for speed. but I suppose it might be worth it. What should I take out? Don't say Nicodemus, I'm really trying to convince myself he's useful.

and Pigs LS. Also I would play with more immunity because that is Thads fear.

Pigs LS gives me two problems: first, it stops me from using Laver, First Fruits, Words and Damsel, and second, it does nothing against the major speed card in a Disciples deck: Matthew (nor does it affect Fishing Boat, which could be more helpful) Thus, I find the speed bump LS and RBD (which I can recur with Balaam) to be more effective.

As for more immunity, I have PotW. There really aren't that many other PG/Orange Immunity characters (Frog Demons I guess...) and since even the sleekest Disciples deck will without fail have MLaMG, and Reach+AoCP, I don't see it helping. I would venture to say that cards like Worshipping Demons and Forgotten History give Thad more problems than immunity.

Why HHI? It hurts your offense more than it would hurt your opponent's + simon discards it.

I also don't understand the defense choice since aocp wrecks all your guys and john / peter can use your tgt against you fairly effectively.

Why would pigs not work on Fishing Boat?

I also don't understand the defense choice since aocp wrecks all your guys and john / peter can use your tgt against you fairly effectively.

HHI stops James, SoA from entering battle, as well as Phillip. James is one of the best disciples aside from Thaddeus, since he has initiative to play AoCP, and Phillip/Bart is a super powerful band that many consider better than Thad. On my side, it stops MMoJ, but no one else. Yes, the TGT band is great against other defenses, but it doesn't matter whether I attack with one or several ladies against any defense that would be paired with Disciples (i.e. Pharisees). As far as Simon goes, if I can get my opponent to attack with a Disciple that will give almost all of my characters initiative without protecting everything, and who doesn't have a draw ability, I consider that a win.

My AoCP is more of an endgame strat; I find that Benedictus+ET+AoCP is just a good idea in general, and I get to choose when its used on my end. With my defense the way it is, the only way a Disciples deck will be able to pull off an AoCP is if I give them initiative, which I probably wouldn't unless I'm prepared for it.

As for their Peter and John, that's why I included my own Golgotha (in addition to a quick DoU recursion of a key EE). I just find that TGT is the quickest winning offense aside from Disciple, and so if my defense can provide enough speed bumps to slow a Disciples deck just enough, than the hope is that my offense will be able to get in for a quick few souls for the win.

The mmoj band matters for cm incase you don't have herods temple out yet or can't use it for some reason.
I wasn't thinking of james, but I don't think philip bart would be too taxing on your defense.

I meant your opponents aocp more than your own, but you seem to have that covered... who runs et anymore.   ;)

There are still ways around Golgotha (benedictus) and having 3 possible brigades in territory seems like a bad plan for tgt.

I agree that it is better to have the ability to band, but the ability to shut down their band is better IMO.

From what I've seen, very few Disciples players. He's much more common in TGT decks in my experience. Not saying it won't be a problem, but with Golgotha allowing me to keep EC's in my hand, and one of my best EC's being territory protected by CP, I'm not too worried.

I have yet to see a dedicated Disciples deck use Benedictus. It's (for obvious reasons) much more common in TGT decks. If I'm facing a TGT deck, then I have to depend on getting a better draw than my opponent/making better plays. Also, the three different brigades is unfortunate, but there isn't a better initiative character for me to use than Astrologers IMO.

It does what you want it to do well.

Also, workers with familliar spirits is 4/4 mono pg and I don't think he'd effect inish too much.

I thought about him, and if they were NT, I'd almost definitely use them. But I think Astrologers' ability combined with Laver/Susanna/Divination might just come in a bit handier, and makes up for the added brigade, especially since Babylonians are not as popular as they used to be, and Heretics have additional ways around TGT than just Golgotha.

I don't think his ability will prove to be very useful until (edited by R.O.S.E.S.) comes out, and I meant that he can't block if your opponent uses your tgt against you since golgotha doesn't work for him.
Heretics are pretty legit, especially false teacher too bad they don't work well with magicians.

It'd be awesome if you could fit Gates of Jerusalem/King Manasseh/King Amon (K)/Goliath's Armor in this deck.  Having two combos that completely shut down Disciples would be sweet.

Does WS's ability work for all Demon's in battle, or do you have to choose one Demon that will be placed underneath deck?

If your demon is discarded, you get to place it beneath deck instead.  That means each time a demon of yours is discarded, you can place it beneath deck instead.  And even if WS is removed from battle, his ability will continue to work, since it is CBN.

As long as you get WS into battle before AoCP goes off, you will get all your demons back.  In fact, after AoCP, you could use Gates of Hell to put them back in play, and then discard Gates to add one (WS of course) back into battle!

Awesome.  My next question is: This only works with discard special abilities and not simply, "I lost by the numbers, the demons go to my discard pile, but wait, WS says it goes beneath my deck instead," correct?  Either you win or they use a discard ability, otherwise they actually do go to the discard pile.  Sorry, just trying to understand the whole protected from discard thing...  Lots of fine details to remember.

It's not a protect ability, it's an instead ability.  So, if they lose by the numbers, they still go under deck.
