Ubermensch: Super-Job and Judas
« on: September 26, 2010, 01:53:45 AM »

First new deck in a while. Haven't tried it yet, but I'm having a hard time resisting Job/Dust & Ashes. I figured it'd be cool to have Judas and Job as "unstoppable" characters on each side.

50 cards. For one of the few times in my life outside of booster draft.

Blue: 8 cards
Job
-
Job's Faith
Job Overcomes
Abraham's Servant to Ur
Abraham's Descendant
Jubilee
Obedience of Noah
Journey to Egypt

Silver: 5 cards
Seraphim (to blue)
Angel of Warning
-
Gathering of Angels
Striking Herod
Victory

Crimson: 12 cards
Judas Iscariot
Red Dragon
Ananias
Sapphira
King Zimri
-
Judas' Plot
Thievery of Judas
Midianite Attack
Hating the Light
Christian Suing Another
Set Fire
Dream

Artifacts and Covenants: 6
Thirty Pieces of Silver
Unholy Writ
Ark of the Covenant
Holy of Holies
I Am Creator
I Am Patience

Sites: 2
Caesarea Philippi
Promised Land

Fortresses: 3
Dust & Ashes
Wall of Protection
High Priests' Palace

Dominants: 7
Son of God
New Jerusalem
Angel of the Lord
Christian Martyr
Destruction of Nehushtan
Falling Away
Harvest Time

Lost Souls: 7
CBP
Speed Bump
NT
Female
Same book
Same testament
Revealer

---

A couple notes:
-> High Priests' Palace is just there to hold Unholy Writ and 30 Pieces, which are cool things to have up defensively. While Judas plays nice with Sadducees, with such a small deck I couldn't get myself to fit both Black and Crimson goodies. A real shame. I don't like playing 2-color defenses with the exception of just splashing in a little bit, but I couldn't figure out a nice black splash except maybe Scribe and something cool?
-> I don't have much against ignore. I was going to put in Arrest at Gethsemane and/or Golgotha but couldn't figure out a good way to stick those in.
-> Christian Suing Another lets me pit Job against somebody and maybe play my Job enhancements. I could also possibly replace Zimri with Rehoboam to do that, but then I'm not blocking with Judas.
-> Take Ananias out for Creeping Deceiver? He can band to Sapphira too, and he has a slight chance of blocking an RA from his SA.
-> Does site lock destroy me?

i think i am holy/chamber goes along very well with the job/discard theme. angel of warning can also search for both chamber and dust and ashes.

coth/tsa/gabe (w)/angel of warning/angel at shur/seraphim are all excellent angels to use with iah/chamber and job.

I would use Angel of Warning, Angel at Shur, and TSA myself, but none of the options mentioned are by any means bad.

gabe is more of a personal preference that is especially catered towards the iah/chamber combo. a 10/10 that is excellent with striking herod and also picking off evil enhancements is pretty good in my book.

Or good enhancements, since ideally you'll be getting rid of the evil cards from your opponent's hand.

I don't have many of the new souls, but I didn't put much thought into what I included; I'll pay more careful attention to them once I get some new ones. The negater soul sounds like a good one.

Extending the silver could be a good idea, but should I increase the deck to 56 in that case, or should I whittle down something else to make that work?

I will certainly add more evil battle winners, I don't know how I included so few.

i recommend uzzah and maybe a torment. torment would go good with uzzah and zimri. another good thing about torment would be to play it on judas to heal one of your characters after opponent uses something like AOC or jepthah since judas wouldnt be affected by those effects

I like this idea. It's very similar to the Job deck I was working on (with help from people in that thread I made). I think adding the angels would be a nice idea, and I think you'd be fine with bumping it up to 56, imho.

Except that you can just use Torment on one of the discarded heroes, you don't need Judas, lol.

I think any deck using Abrahams Descendant and Ceasar Phillipi should use Golgotha!

no i think u need a evil character to activate torment on in your territory. i dnt think u can activate a healing enhancement on a character being discarded to heal itself. if im wrong please let me know

I would throw in a jacob to win some souls till job comes online

Take out Thirty Pieces of Silver for Golgotha.

Jacob ruins the best card in the deck, Job's Faith.

Tim, I had tested out a similar design at a recent tourney.  It seems that the comments made by a couple of players is that the D needs to be improved if it is to stay at crimson.  The comments on the O so far:  AWESOME.

To all: Any ideas in order to make this 'crimson' D better?

Thanks and Godbless!
