How to get the best out of one's cards?

Hi there again,

since I'm trying to assemble own decks I wonder what a good/recommended procedure might be to get deck ideas out of the cards I own?
Currently I own starters G - J, 6 (in my opinion not so helpful) boosters (3 Prophets, 3 UL) and one Disciples Expansion Pack.

So far I created one deck which concentrates on discarding, underdecking and removing opponent's cards (offense and defense is used for that).
For offense I used completely Gold, in defense its is Orange and Grey.

Now there are not so much options left for other deck ideas. In case of offense I could combine White and Silver but I fear that it might not be as strong as the above mentioned Gold version. Idea of White and Silver: Drawing and getting things back from discard Pile.
In terms of defense I did not yet think about it.

So general question is: What would be a reasonable approach to scan one's cards for good deck building ideas/concepts to make the best out of them in different constellations?

Thank you in advance!

Bye

I always focus on battle winners.
Battle winners = cards that end the battle in your favor.
This could include: choose the blocker/rescuer, capture, discard, remove from game, conversion, etc.

Next, I focus on drawing and search cards to get to the battle winners.

Third, I look for heroes/evil characters that have good abilities to get to the battle winners or guard from them with protection.

My ratio is 1:1, character to enhancement, at the most.

I fill in Arts and Sites as they fit my strategy and/or need.

@soul seeker:
Thank you. How do you handle the "color problem" within this approach (i.e. when lots of those cards you are looking for belong to completely different brigades?)?

I have a larger collection, so I try to go mono color or maybe a duo color.  If your collection is smaller, then look for the heroes that band so that you can use either option.  Sometimes the size of your collection affects what you can do.

Early on, I received a card called "Coat of Many Colors" that helped as well.  As your collection grows, then you will be able to narrow how many colors that you have to use.

The best thing you can do is be active on these forums, and read a lot. The same basic cards have been out since 2011, so there should be a solid three years of threads from which to draw from. Look at what other people built, look at discussions, and get a feel for how cards work, and why some combinations work. Netdecking (copying other people's decks that they've posted online and playing with them) will allow you to get a feel for the top decks and why they work so well. Once you get a feel for those decks, you'll be able to make adjustments and start building them on your own.
