Title: Legitimacy of Storehouse in a Genesis Deck
Post by: Chronic Apathy on September 05, 2011, 12:20:13 AM
I'm not going to post my whole deck (IT'S A SEKRET), but I got into a debate with Gabe on this subject and I'm curious for other peoples' opinions. Do you think that Storehouse is a viable option to put in a pure Genesis deck? I think it is, for a couple reasons. First off, it aids The Dreaming Pharaoh immensely. There's not even really any elaboration there, it just does. "But Chronic", you say, "doesn't Pharaoh's Prison do the same thing?" That's true, however, Joseph and 7 Years of Plenty both allow you to search for Storehouse, allowing you to use TDP's ability quicker. Additionally, Genesis is also very big about small hand sizes. Being able to dump two or three good enhancements at the end of a turn for Zeb abuse is not something that's easily ignored.

So how about it, what do you guys think?

Agree with all points.

I would say no because I like a hit-hard and win-quick genesis, meaning I wouldn't rely on Zebby AT ALL, but if you're going for a more long-term approach, go for it. I have never liked the card because you can lose so much if it's discarded (which is so easy now).

I'd use it for sure. Just need to be careful and add Protection of Jerusalem and a Captain or Seraphim (band blue) or something.

No, just Storehouse sitting there is fine.

Well, if you put in Protection of Jerusalem, which is just a nice card, then you might as well use it instead of discarding or for using Zeb.

storehosue is staple in a gen deck. zeb for obvious reasons, but also great for dumping your hand to 1 at end of turn...that 1 card being mayhem of course. ;)

Meh, I don't use it - However - I'm not running a Gen Egyptian Defense, so I don't need it for Dreamer, I'm running a deck that I hesitate to call enhancement light, but certainly isn't enhancement heavy, and most of the enhancements in the deck can be disposed of in other ways than the 'House if I need to run a quick Zeb. And frankly, Gen is so good, I can beat you w/ or w/out Zeb, I've got 9 heroes in my deck, and 8 of them can beat you straight up.

If I end up making the Gen deck that I want to, I'll probably throw Storehouse in for all the reasons already stated.

I never thought I'd see the day. Go go Genesis! [/cheer]

If you're going for crazy speed, I would put it in. If not..., you still might want to put it in.

However, I think it's only good in an Egyptian defense (and even better with Gen).

I see what you did there.

I like the idea of Storehouse, but I'm not too keen on revealing my enhancements.

On the other hand, when you're using Genesis your opponent already knows what Enhancements you're using.

Not as much as one would think.  Sure, I may search for stuff, but I've rarely grabbed enhancements.

What I mean is that all Genesis decks use pretty much the same enhancements. Your opponent may not know exactly which ones you have atm, but he'll know which ones are in your deck and which ones you likely have in hand based on how you attack.

That's true for most deck archetypes.  What Disciples deck won't have MLaMG, AoCP and Reach?  What I'm worried about is my opponent knowing which ones I have right now.  I could just keep them in hand, but that'd defeat the purpose.

Maybe one that has MLaMG, regular AoC, and Reach...

Only 9 heroes? You are doing it wrong.

I agree with kittens. I have frequently made a rescue attempt with Able without any enhancements for him and people have just given me a lost soul because they were afraid I would play Creation with him. (They had strong evil characters out so I know they could have blocked me)

That has less to do with not knowing the hand and more to do with your opponent being incompentant or making poor decisions, in my opinion.

I like the idea. Might have to rebuild a Genesis Deck with Storehouse, and the rest of the new cards released this year.

Played my first game with Geniptians, and Storehouse was great.  I'm in favor of it.  Further testing may reveal otherwise.
