Getting more lost souls

I got this game for my son over the holidays and he really likes it. The bummer is that out of eight booster packs he still doesn't have any additional losts souls. He is disappointed because he basically has 100 cards he can't play until he gets at least one more. It has really put a damper on the fun of the game for him.

Any tips on what packs to buy to get him a lost soul? I can't just keep spending money on booster packs he can't even use until I can find one.

Hi Amy,

Welcome to the Boards!

First, your son should have started with an starter deck. The most recent version is a G/H. That would get him more cards that are very useful to use for the deck along with the lost souls he and a friend would need to play as well as a rulebook. I have some cards lying around and would be glad to start him out. Please email me (cybercrusadersrealm@gmail.com) with your address. Glad he's enjoying the game!

Most Rock of Ages & Faith of Our Fathers tins come with lost souls. You can see which ones come with which tin here:

Also, Redemption Table Simulator is great way to try out cards before buying them. More information about RTS can be found here:

There is also an Official Online Tournament every month.

Thanks for your replies!

We did get a starter set with G and H that he and I have been playing. What I'm saying is that he didn't get any lost souls in any additional packs to be able to add more cards to that deck.

So I was wondering which sets he would have the best luck with getting additional lost souls without me wasting a bunch of money. I will check out the ones suggested.

Ahh, ok. I would advise against getting the Rock of Ages and Faith of Our Fathers, then. They are fantastic deals, but you should wait until you get a little more experience so you can make sure to buy the tin that fits you best.

Your best bet would just to be to buy souls off of someone, they should be very cheap. I'm sure Brad has many extras.

Hi Amy,

Unfortunately, there really aren't any sure ways to get Lost Souls from packs, as they come randomly in the packs. However, they are probably most commonly found in Apostles and Unlimited (the $1 blue packs). If you are comfortable emailing me your address, I would be more than happy to send you several Lost Souls (some with special abilities, some without) free of charge. My email address is jsalstad@gmail.com. If you don't want to give your address, that is ok, but if you say what state/city you are from, than I or someone else could let you know if there are other players nearby that host tournaments. Lost Souls are pretty common for people who have been playing awhile, and I know for certain that if you live near a playgroup then someone could give free Lost Souls as well as several other cards.

Anyway, welcome to the game, and let us know if you have any questions about this site or the game.

amypixie, thanks for posting your question and frustration. I'm encouraged by all the positive responses of people willing to help out. It seems that you've probably gotten most of the help that you need at this point. I'd just like to attest to the trustworthiness of both Professoralstad (Jordan) and TechnoEthicist (Brad). Although we all live in different states I've met them both multiple times at Redemption events. Their intentions are honorable if you're comfortable benefiting from their generosity. :)
Have you visited the Land of Redemption today?

If you want Lost Souls the easy way and to get a bunch the best way would be to buy or trade.

Another free piece of advice is that you really probably shouldn't put in more Lost Souls to begin with.  It is a common mistake of new players to simply put all of their cards into their deck.  This of course means that their decks get much bigger as they accumulate more cards (and they need more Lost Souls).

However, in Redemption, bigger is NOT always better.  I actually would recommend that you and your son try to keep your decks at only 56 cards (which would only need the 7 Lost Souls per deck that you already have).  Then as you get new cards out of packs that you believe are better than the cards that are already in the decks that you have, then TRADE out those cards rather than ADDING them.

In other words, if you get a good gold enhancement that you believe is better than one of the ones in the starter deck, then take out the one from the starter deck and put in the new one.  Your deck stays the same size, but gets more powerful.  If you just make the deck bigger, then you just slow down your chances of getting to your best cards (like Son of God and Angel of the Lord).

To back up Professor U here, I'd say look at some of the sample decks on this board. You'll notice that almost every single deck is at 50, 51, 52, or 56 cards unless they specify that they're not competitive decks. This is not to say that you must have a tournament-worthy deck to have fun or, honestly, to play in a tournament. But it is worth noting that almost unanimously players agree that 50-56 card decks are better than decks of other sizes.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Or are T2 decks, which are built differently.  Feel free to ignore these until you learn more about the game.  Then jump into T2 when you're ready for a challenge.

If there are a sizable amount of T2 decks on this board, we have a bigger problem ;)
