Title: Fortress searching
Post by: cookie monster on May 16, 2012, 10:07:03 PM
What evil cards can search for Gates of samaria? I will be looking for 5 cards that can do this right now. Any ideas?

Thank you,

God Bless!

King Ahab and False Peace. I don't think there's 5.

I play brown. Isn't false peace grey, or is that just my imagination?

I am playing a 10 soul deck and Gates of samaria is a HUGE part of this deck, I already play both of those, but it just isn't enough.

I don't think there's 5.

In Brown?  No, there are not.  So let's think outside the box, shall we? ;)

First, for the evil cards.

1. King Ahab

Type: Evil Char. • Brigade: Brown • Ability: 11 / 11 • Class: Warrior • Special Ability: Search deck for an O.T. evil Fortress. Negate green cards with strength 4 or greater. If Jezebel is in battle, you may play a brown O.T. Enhancement.

Obviously the first option.  Now, he may seem like only one card, but he also leads us to...

2. The Amalekites' Slave

Type: Evil Char. • Brigade: Gold/Brown • Ability: 4 / 4 • Class: None • Special Ability: If blocking, you may place this card in opponent's Land of Bondage to search your deck for a human Evil Character and add it to the battle.

This bad boy soul gens for you and searches him out (or someone nastier if GoS is already out).

3. Unknown Nation

Type: Curse • Brigade: Gold • Ability: 0 / 6 • Class: None • Special Ability: If opponent’s Hero is in battle, you may discard this card to search draw pile for a human Evil Character and add it to battle. Cannot be interrupted.

Same reasoning as for Am Slave (minus the soul gen) with only slightly more vulnerability.

What else is there, you ask?  Well...let's look at good cards.  I know what you're thinking, but consider this:  There are 2 Purple and 1 Gold Hero that can do what you need here.  Purple works well with your defense to begin with, but it also meshes well with Sam, banding, Disciples (to an extent), and Isaiah.  Gold is also in many decks, not to mention Sam.  You wouldn't necessarily be wasting a rescue, and these guys can search for good OR evil, and the Gold option can search for any fortress at all.  If you use any other fortresses, these characters can give you a boost for the whole game:

4. King Solomon

Type: Hero Char. • Brigade: Purple • Ability: 9 / 11 • Class: None • Special Ability: Look at opponent's hand. Search deck for Glory of the Lord or an O.T. Fortress and put it in play.

5. King Hiram

Type: Hero Char. • Brigade: Purple • Ability: 10 / 4 • Class: Warrior • Special Ability: You may draw a card or search deck for an O.T. Fortress and add it to hand.

6. Zaccheus (Ap)

Type: Hero Char. • Brigade: Yellow • Ability: 5 / 2 • Class: None • Special Ability: Holder may search draw pile for one Fortress card. Shuffle draw pile.

Hope this all helps you, but these are really the only options you have to get GoS out faster.  Gave you 6 cards that can do it, and notice that the last 3 can do so on a battle challenge or search something else useful that you may need.

Don't forget Angel of Warning.

There is also the green Search.  What offense do you play with this?

I've found that options 1-3 with solid defense and decent deck drawing is enough.  Its hard to know what your best options are without seeing the deck.

As far as evil cards to search, I can't think of any other.

That's what you always did against me.

Which is why I include 3 ways to get rid of it.  That is generally sufficient.  Though again, I think a Samaria defense is only going to work well if you can pair it with some good drawing.  Judges, royalty, or TGT could work I think.

Don't forget Angel of Warning.

Angel of Warning

Type: Hero Char. • Brigade: Silver • Ability: 4 / 4 • Class: None • Special Ability: May look at opponent’s hand, or search deck for a Site or a good Fortress and put it in play.

It doesn't work because it cannot get GoS.  But yes, Search would work if you played Green with the deck.

I am using a sam/purple offence, 5  purple heroes (not counting these searching people).

Then I would suggest having at least 1-5 of my list in your deck, as they can do a lot more for it than just search out your GoS.  Then you have 5 options, and with duplicates (should you go at least 14 souls and 100 cards) you'd have a lot of chances to get it out quickly and still not stick yourself with useless cards once it is out.
