Well, defenseless usually has speed to get to the dominants faster.  Red is not a very "fast" color.  If you insist on red (because I assume you like red), I'd definitely get the best 7 sites in there that you can, so at least there is SOME defense.  Do I also assume correctly that you do not have big collection of more cards, especially the more recent ones, to work with?  Not much point suggesting other cards if you don't have them

If you have them, something like Babylonian Banquet Hall, Babylon x 4, Pergamum, and  Mildewed House work pretty well.  Add Wastelands, Confusion of Mind and Destruction of Nehushtan if you can too.
