Moving away from mayhem?

So recently I have felt myself moving further and further away from mayhem.

I know it can be a game winner if drawn in the first turn or 2 but I feel with the tiny defenses being run in t-1 I have that adding a defensive Dom into a deck and removing mayhem has become a route I am taking more often.

So few players want to waste a Dom slot on Guardian of Your Souls that falling away is gaining some steam as a replacement for mayhem.   Granted it can be a dead card but even if your opponent runs guardian and gets to it before you get to FA you aren't really out much. He needed a card to stop yours so it essentially and even swap.

However when they don't run guardian you basically can eliminate NJ from their deck.

In these races to 5 souls making your opponent need 6 becomes a huge advantage.

I am really Just curious if anyone else feels the same way or if I am just crazy?

I have also had the same reservations as of late. I feel it isn't a card that is fully utilized in decks that run a fair share of enhancements (aka hand clog), such as balanced and defensive heavy decks. However it does have applications outside of hand advantage, most notably soul gen.

I agree with your assessment on Falling Away. Falling Away and Goys are similar in respect that one becomes dead after the other is drawn (and the fact they are what I consider tier 2, perhaps even tier 3 doms), but I believe Falling Away has the slight advantage in regards to the fact it is always a live card when your opponent doesn't play Goys, whereas Goys is a wasted card slot when your opponent does not play Falling Away.
