Daniel Deck? (T1)

I know it's a moot point with the new set poised to inject new life in things like prophets/babylonians/etc, but does anyone know of a Foretelling Angel Daniel decklist that's been successful in T1? Just curious because I've never played against Foretelling Angel outside of draft and have nothing to draw from, and possibly this list can be developed if it doesn't yet exist.

I have created a Foretelling Angel deck that was consistent in terms of getting out what you need, getting the engine (Foretelling Angel is the obvious piece) going, and winning some battles.  The barrier to the deck crossing into being competitive is access to battle winning enhancements.

I believe I have a decklist somewhere but it is no longer constructed, and will be a little harder to recreate if not.  I will try to send you a PM with list and explanation if I can find it.

I did a Daniel deck with foretelling angel but I added the Ruth offense to it with 4x Kindness of Boaz to snag the top card if it wasn't a Daniel card. It was very fast but more of a multi deck.

edit: I'm blind, totally missed this was for t1 lol

I ran a list for fun around the time of CoW that was very defense heavy, brown and crimson along with 7 sites (Lions Den and BBH IIRC). This was before the Reserve existed. As goalieking87 mentioned, the problem was lack of power on GE part of the deck. But the defense was capable of taking out a large portion of the opposing defense to help clear the path. It wasn't highly completive but it set up extremely fast if you could get Foretelling Angel (which you usually can).

To make up for a lack of strong GEs, I was thinking the CoW Daniel would be superior due to his recursion (Faith o' Samuel, Faith o' Daniel, etc). But I was also thinking everything this supposed deck would do well an Ezekiel deck would do better. :-\ I don't know how many Daniel cards are out there that are worth playing to the point where Foretelling Angel would be really good.

It's too bad there isn't a limit on Foretelling (say, 2-3 per turn). If there was, I imagine a plethora of Daniel cards could be printed to make the deck pretty competitive. Since there isn't, I think Daniel cards will be few and far between.

I looked and didn’t find a deck list. I did enjoy that deck a lot though so I may try to reconstruct it.

It won’t be immediately by any measure of the term, but I will let you know.

Daniel decks have also suffered from defensive options that have anti-synergy. The strongest Daniel EC - Nebuchadezzar, doesn't work if a Daniel Hero is in play.

There are 6 beasts from Daniel that represent different nations. Several of them discard one another. While that's very thematic, it eliminates even more options as you try to build a defense out of the smallish selection of cards that have a Daniel reference.

I think Daniel cards will be few and far between.

We might see few and far before the next Nationals.

I feel weird commenting on this, due to the fact that I haven't played constructed T1 in years. But I do have a T2 Daniel deck. While I'm sure my experiences with it won't translate perfectly to T1, for a number of reasons, but I could help shine some light on it.

First of all my deck is about 2/3 Daniel cards and it used the CoW Daniel for recursion. Secondly, my characters (especially Azariah) give some decent protection against some things, while I use the Daniel enhancements as negates and protection as well as the occasional battle winner (especially Faith of Daniel when I don't screw up and Cast into Lions Den).

On the defense I have a combo of Babylonians and Persians. While the Babylonians do the majority of the work, I can often get some blocks out of my Persians, especially after Nebechunezzar's Pride (or another ability) has set aside the attacking character and I have a Persian Presidents waiting. Another interesting thing I've found is that the 4 Daniel Beasts from RoA are immune to a brigade, so while I have Foretelling Angel out and the top card of my deck is Daniel it's CBN brigade coverage, which is surprisingly useful with the plethora of multi brigade enhancements out there.

Finally, I am very interested to see that Prophesies of Christ will have at least 13 Daniel cards (if I counted right that is). Although I have to admit, that I do enjoy playing decks that aren't quite competitive because I like a challenge.
If you are reading this signature, thank a physicist.

A PoC DoN!! Awesome! I'm curious if it will have updated wording with the same ability, or be upgraded as well...

Excited to see all the new cards, especially the Babylonians!

In the morning I will add links to the phase 1 cards on Travis’ list. If my count is correct that adds up to 10 cards that haven’t been previewed before!

Of course it helps when your opponent forgets that Faith of Barak is still half red when played on a clay character... :-[

Between Conjurers and Mounted Forces, a PG/Crimson deck is looking pretty solid this year.

Interesting tradeoff on DoN. I think it's probably good, but still not sure it'll top the Woes that took its deckslot for me.

I like the design on Bab Siege Army a lot.

About DoN- in years past there has been discussion that when it's reprinted, it would be a good dominant since the event is of King Hezekiah destroying an idol.

Love the look of Winged Lion!! And I agree with Bobbert about Bab Siege Army - such a creative and great ability!

There were a number of options considered for DoN, including a dual alignment Dom like 3W, but this is what our team settled on. It could almost be an LR if it wasn’t for old wording that caused it to discard, then negate.

oh ok, sounds good! Yes it would be cool if it were a LR...I guess if the old one was errata'd first then it could still happen, but I don't think it's really a big deal either way

On Shadrach, should his ability be for band abilities on good cards CBI? I am not too worried about it either way since it kind of helps balance it if it makes evil Daniel bands CBI, but not sure why it would scripturally speaking.

Babylonian Siege Army: "...If its is an Artifact, take it." EDIT: Also; "If it is a Site or Fortress..." <- You missed some spots. ;)

That's a lot more Daniel cards than I expected. I hope extensive testing is being done to ensure Foretelling Angel doesn't become another 'deck out on turn 2-3' deck style. A 50 card deck like this with Mayhem, Wages, Dream, and Faith of Samuel might just do it.

Pretty sure that no SA sites are unlimited (hence Gates of Samaria).

The real question is, what makes it worth running five Lions Dens?

It has a Daniel reference so free card with Foretelling. It can hid souls to stall. There are even ways to slow down site access.

The deck is designed to utilize Sites to hide souls (site-doubler helps this)  and then to shuffle souls and sites away to do it again. That is why I put Shipwreck and Nebuchadnezzar's Pride in this build to deal with any potential access Site or Hero that my opponent has up their sleeves.

There is a limit. The number of sites, with or without SA, in a T1 deck cannot exceed the number of souls in the deck. With a no SA site (like Samaria) you can have up to 7 if there are 7 souls in the deck. But if the site has a SA you can only have one of that site in the deck but up to 7 different sites with SAs if there are 7 souls in the deck.
