Cards like Sabbath Breaker, Uzzah, Foreign Wives, Messenger of Stan, Fire Foxes and The Deceiver have been in a great number of defenses since they were introduced. While they may not always make it into the same defense, they have always been "meta".

I definitely agree and that’s my main point. The same core of cards or strategy has been similar in a lot of top winning decks for the past three years. I think this year people can have a few more options due to more reserve access and Moabites being gray plus chumpy is going to be a fan favorite because it’s easy to add Vittles, Balaam’s Disobediance, Sabbath Breaker, with Uzzah, FW, Fire Foxes and sill have chump blocks, guaranteed blocks plus Moabite versatility. I think that will be the main defense with other banding/chump variants. I hope to see more choices because this set was strong defensively it’s just tough to create, as I think the purpose of this thread stated. It’s hard to make a strong defense when you have to have a large offense to overwhelm strong defenses now.

From my observation, Fire Foxes took a year for people to catch on how good they were, but in general I agree.  8)

In ZERO way is this a knock on anything just when the set comes out in May, yes it’ll take a year for some sneaky good cards to see play. I feel like since the sets have been released in May, the majority of players have been behind the Meta and maximizing card abilities and finding out what’s really good. I can definitely see a lot of play from Birthing Pains/I Am Holy. Remember when these meta defenses came out I Am Holy made a resurgence, I think Birthing is really good. Overtaken is another one. Confused Languages, there’s a few cards in this set that I’m wondering how much or when they will see play.

I'm right there with you...one of the things I've very interested in seeing is if a viable deck can be made with every enhancement being dual-alignment and being able to be played by nearly every character.  8)

Well I can say that kind of works. You'll be wishing for more interrupts though.

FF didn't get played the year it came out because Coliseum was super prevalent. Same with Uzzah. Now that Coliseum is basically unviable and now that the Reserve is a thing, FF and Uzzah have come back with a vengeance.
If you were to go on a trip... where would you like to go?
