Every Man's Sword prevents all battle challenges from being made.  It does not stop rescue attempts.  Burial Shroud:

1.  Prevents you from making rescue attempts (allows battle challenges)
2.  Prevents all opponent from attacking (RAs or BCs) you.
3.  Only lasts 2 turns.

Every Man's Sword is rarely used while BurS is used quite often.  I would definitely stick with BurS if you need one.

Every Man's Sword doesn't prevent battle challenges (Anymore), It's acutally even more worthless than Strength in Weakness (Ok, maybe not) It's errata says this:

"Protect each player without a Lost Soul in territory from being attacked."

So, even if you only have the N.T. and I've only got O.T. heroes, or if all your souls are in sites, and I don't have access, I can still attack you.

Oh my goodness, I had no idea that errata existed.  That's horrible. :O

on a side note, when you have questions about cards, it should be posted in the "Ruling questions" catagory of the boards.
