Title: Banding Heroes?
Post by: RedRanger on July 31, 2011, 07:22:09 PM
I'm not remotly new to the game, but I'm kinda coming back into it; I wanted to know:
Is there a point to have hero banding, besides getting around "Immune to lone" ECs?
Banding with ECs is good because heroes don't normally have "discard all ______" enhancements.
But if you have a big heroband, it can be decimated by a "Remove all cards in battle from the game" enhancement (and there are quit a few)

Having multiple heroes in battle is usually not a good thing. The biggest upside is that you can't be taken out with one-offs like Christian Martyr, Unholy Writ, or many other evil enhancements. However, you are also more vulnerable to things like Grapes of Wrath and the "Remove all" enhancements, but most importantly, you will probably also lose initiative.

Fight by the Numbers bands, however, are a different story...

Well then why would you have people like Caleb + Men of Judah + Army of Simeonites?

I don't think I've ever seen any of those cards in decks other than my own since they came out. They just aren't very good. Going against specific decks, you might have luck with that trio, but their big numbers inhibit their usefulness.

I use them, but normally they are only useful if you can band in some FBTN hero.
Come to think of it... I don't know why I use them, but they still win :)

I play Caleb(red) as a small inhibitor to people who play Black EC's. But I don't usually band heroes unless there is a special ability benefit to doing so.

There are cards that negate enhancements that remove all cards from the game, and usually people who attack with chains like that are prepared for such cards.

Banding on the hero side is usually done with an interrupt in hand.

Banding is awesome. Usually you can overwhelm them by sheer force or get them to give you a chance to interrupt and destroy them, which also makes them waste an enhancement that would have owned you, and they probably won't have too many in their deck.

The federal commission of TH3 UNF0RG1V4BL3 approves of this statement :police:
