If you are a new player, I think you should just put in a few sites to slow things down. Trying to lock people out is tricky. You have to know when to block, when to use a block to take out an access card even though you allow yourself to lose the battle and maybe even give up a LS in the process. You have to know how to use your deck to defend in case your sites haven't come out yet (or opponents create unprotected LSs), even though the defense probably isn't really built for that.
