in all seriousness...

most doms in general need to be banned, extremely overpowered. sog, nj, aotl, cm are the main culprits.

tgt is in a tier right under doms. ignoring every evil brigade is insanely asinine and ridiculous; its original creator should be tarred and feathered.

hamans plot, as in most ways its even more powerful than aocp.

zeal next comes to mind...a cbn interrupt + battle winner all rolled into one card that i've seen win too many battles than lose.

It will be because soon none of them will be left.

I'm pretty sure untorn Haman's Plots will be around until the world ends. Enough people have such large stockpiles of them to last for a long, long time. I myself have about 8 of them, and that's more than I would ever tear in several years.

Not only that, but [Edited by ROSES]. So yeah.

Yeah, it will be a long time until you can hang torn Haman's Plots from the rafters and call it party decorations.

I just recently learned of what you are talking about, and although I now agree that Haman's plot should probably never be banned, I am quite disappointed.

Sure, that's a great way to get people to join the game and learn about God. It's all just about getting together with other Christians, so why not just completely ignore the actual game? While we're at it, we can just throw the game out and do absolutely nothing. ...I think I'll play video games instead...

The only card I would consider ever banning is Haman's Plot, just because it will eventually get to a point where so few copies of it will exist that we will need to do anything possible to keep it from extinction.

If it's going to go into extinction, then what's the point of banning what will eventually occur naturally  ;)

i am more inclined to say that doms more than anything else should be limited (severely, if not banned). I like Grapes, however that paired with with an AotL is just brutal on any defense that uses ECs as for at least half of its defense (what an amazing concept ECs instead of sites and artifacts. lol). thos two doms, plus SoG and NJ and what do u know, ur only one LS away from a win (assuming u rescue a LS as a result of with AotL and Grapes) i don't necessarily want to see these cards banned as they add an unstoppable, unique to all the other cards in the game twist, but i would be happy to see a way for them to not be as useable or unstoppable perhaps. that would seem to balance out the game a bit more. and force people on the deck strategies more than the number of dominants and how to get them faster. anyone else agree with the idea of "limited but not banned" idea?

ps. i may be alone in this, but i kinda like TGT. i dont usually play with it, but it was a good way to make people think twice before they make the run-of-the-mill speed/splash defense. i think it's refreshing to see something other than speed 4 out of 5 times at a tourney (idk the actual states, but that's mostly what i see). there are ways around it (Destructive Sin and Image of Jealousy are 2 brand new ways to do that and their pretty rounded to play against other things), and it doesn't effect a 1 or 2 brigade defense badly if they are moderately protected. again, please don't stone me for standing up for TGT  im just a perfect little angel! lol!
Can't think of something clever to say...sorry if you were expecting inspirational and/or witty...

No cards are needing to be banned. This topic has been gone over countless times on the boards over the years. A more agreeable solution to banning NJ (which seemed to get the most votes) was to increase how many LSs were to be rescued in T1 and in T2. In T1 the increase was from 5 LSs to either 6 or 7 LSs and in T2 from 7 LSs to 8 or 9 LSs. This seemed to be the most agreeable idea as opposed to banning cards, which really wouldn't do much. Redemption is set apart from other CCGs/TCGs by not having to ban cards with each new set released in order to keep the game balanced. In fact, I don't think there are any banned cards in Redemption. A few misprints with errata to correct them so they play as intended, but nothing banned that I can currently think of.
I have said it before and I will say it again - the playtesters are aware of the mechanics of the game and necessary balancing counters to the irritating archetypes that are out there. They are aware of what upsets the balance and what current cards and cards needing to be designed will help balance it. I would submit that the Card Designers/Playtesters are thinking/designing at least 1 if not 2+ sets ahead of what is currently out there. What fun would it be if every set released was balanced against itself and the current card base? As it is, by rocking the boat unique and unthought of counters were/are found by us the players. Why? you may ask. Because we were challenged to do so, that is why. That is one of the many reasons Redemption is so awesome. Just my thoughts on banning cards.

Those are some good observations Mike, but I respectfully disagree.  IF the designers ever agreed to increase the Lost Soul win number to 6 instead of 5 (which I don't think is possible or fair with Burial/Falling Away/Special Lost souls and the ability to SOG your own lost soul), why would they be doing it?  Because of the New Jerusalem Promo and all the speed decks, right?  Then doesn't that mean that a mistake was made earlier, and/or that not enough foresight was used to envision what would happen?  If that is the case, isn't the most logical thing to do, as countless other games have done, is say "Sorry, but we made a mistake with this one card.  Go ahead and use it in your casual games if you want, but New Jerusalem promo is no longer tournament legal as of such and such a date."?  First of all, it is a card that is very hard to find retail anymore, so you're not affecting THAT many new players.  Anyone buying starter tins is not likely to be a tournament participant immediately anyway.  Then, simply insert a mini-card in every subsequent starter deck and booster pack that you sell stating that "We made this one card at one point, but in hindsight it was a bad idea.  Please note that this card, if you ever encounter one, is not legal for tournament play."

On the other hand, if we take your suggestion, then EVERY starter deck rulebook out there on shelves right now is WRONG, because since the time it was printed the win count has been increased to 6 (which as I said I'm not sure is possible anyway), OR as others have suggested the minimum deck size has been increased, which also makes current starter decks on shelves "illegal".  Now I know there are minor rule changes that come along, like whoever goes second drawing 3 cards, but if someone doesn't play that way because of a 3rd edition starter book, is their game "broken"?  Not really.

I guess my broader question is, in light of other famous card games that later ban overpowered cards, what makes all those game designers wrong and the redemption designers right?  Is it because it is a "bible" game that cards cannot be banned?

Finally, I'm not sure that playtesters ALWAYS find a counter.  Spirit as a Dove promo, Suzanna, Joseph of Arimathea, Consider the Lillies.  Did White NT Garden Tomb Speed need even MORE enticement to play it?

P.S.  I really do thoroughly enjoy this game, and I promise that I DO appreciate Rob's and the playtester's best efforts.  I just wish that they would admit that NJ promo was a mistake, ban it, and move on.  It is really frustrating when so many tournament level games are decided by who draws Falling Away and NJ Promo first (my two votes for worst cards).  Just my thoughts.
