Does anyone use this fortress? I have never seen it played and wondered why? Doesn't it protect you from evil cards?

You have a point. If "Hero is protected from effect" he should also be protected once he returns to the territory. This could be broken.

Protecting from everything? Yeah, superbroken.

SWEET!!!

That's a good point. It does need play-as (not errata, because as written it's merely ambiguous, not definitively the way you're saying it works).

Actually, the reason I've never played w/ this fortress or seen anybody else use it is because I always thought it never worked. That 'Hero is protected from effect' part of the ability should also protect the Hero from returning to territory. :P

Prof Alstad played it last year in Teams at Regionals.

I think the protected from effect part would protect from your opponent but i don't know because sometimes you can't effect your own cards.
