Title: Taunt/Play First - Monster Combo
Post by: kariusvega on May 10, 2016, 01:09:53 PM
So now that I've successfully pulled this combo off several times and even wound up winning games with the deck which involves it.. I have come to you to share the way with all currently printed cards, to taunt with Goliath and play first Wrath/Head of Gold/Great Image

Needs:
Goliath (Promo)
Messenger of Satan (EC)
The Gates of Hell (TxP)
Nergalsharezer (FooF) (Can be Naaman)
Swift Horses (FooF) (Can be Naaman's Chariot and Horses)

(include one more Babylonian in play for Nergalsharezer to work to make his OT enhancements CBN for draw/play or use CBP soul to draw/play cbp through Goliath)

Then your choice of crimson, orange, or black enhancements.

Combo:
Taunt with Goliath, discard The Gates of Hell to add Messenger of Satan (cbp band through Goliath negating band abilities) to battle. Band to Nergalsharezer who can then CBN/CBP draw and play through Goliath with Swift Horses, your choice or Wrath/Head of Gold/Great Image/etc

Thoughts:
It can take a while to build up, but I've implemented some other nasty combos to set up quick. Similarly to Hypocrisy/Mayhem, this is a combo that you want to let build up. Knowing that most meta decks currently do not have heavy hero recursion, once it is built up, this combo can be game over for your opponent resulting in no more lost souls rescued, and 5 rescued for you.

I almost consider this an alternate win condition due to the potency of being able to annihilate your opponents offense, similar to that of John Earley's T1-2P 2015 Nationals winning deck where site lock and surgical precision lead to a win condition.

Never seen anyone do it, and never heard of it before while I have posted a card called Pride to give any EC taunt, this may be the closest I can legally get to it.

Would love to hear your thoughts and recommendations on this combo! Happy playing!

I prefer the Korah - Seige to bring in Goliath and Herod Agrippa II with all their heroes combo.

This can also be achieved by using Habitation of Demons on Goliath.

CBP soul won't help with this combo - it makes the first EE you play CBP by a good card, and Goliath is not a good card   :D

Also, Head of Gold and Great Image just scream "Play me in a side battle!".  HoG can win you both battles too, if they blocked your hero with human ECs.

Well, this definitely works, it takes a while to set up, but it is devastating, especially if you have a christian martyr to back it up if there is a hero in hand.

You have to wait for them to attack to do that. The point of this combo is that you can hold the salient part in your hand all game and then just drop a nuke that your opponent can do nothing about.

The appropriate counter, then, would be to create a new card called "Iraq Survey Group" that can search your opponent's hand, deck, discard pile, set-aside area, artifact pile, all face-down cards, their deck box, all pockets, lunchbox, and apartment for these "nukes" and remove them from the game.

I forgot to mention the second part of the ability:

"If no nukes are found (or if holder just feels like it), remove opponent's entire deck from the game."

That sounds very familiar to the first version of Confusion that John submitted. Are you two in cahoots?

We prefer to be called "The Syndicate."
