Joke card.

And no one ever got the joke.

There is none.
An unanswered question is infinitely better than an unquestioned answer.

When Doubt was first released, it was actually more-or-less playable. An 0/12 evil character with zero identifiers made it good if your opponent didn't have the high offense needed to break through, and didn't have any enhancements that could kill Doubt outright. At the last MN Nats, I was in a Teams game where we were running demon defenses, and my teammate played Doubt against his opponent's Captain of the Host. They both played 3-4 enhancements (none of which triggered because of Captain's negate), and Doubt eventually won the battle. We late won the game as well. It's pretty much useless now, but back in the day, it wasn't terrible.

No, it can't.  Doubt is not a demon.

And why didn't he just play KoT or Prince of the Air or Prince of This World or The Strong Demon or The Thief?

Sorry, but an 0/12 that can't be played out of hand and goes away at the end of the turn is terrible. I know I'll probably get -1'ed for it, but JSB is completely correct.  This card is and always was awful.

Doubt was an interesting idea, but didn't really pan out in any real situations, it has a few uses, but most of them revolve around the fact that Doubt doesn't go away after the turn, it just ceases being a character, which gives it some utility if you are running a green offence (and maybe a few others)

Finally when he first came out he was one of two orange characters that weren't demons (along with Madness), so they could block in a mono orange deck if your opponent has Three Nails and for some reason you haven't drawn any of your numerous cards to counter it, but even then he got cut from my Orange T2 deck.
If you are reading this signature, thank a physicist.

I could see it being helpful if your teammate had a lot of evil enhancements but no one to play them on. Then he could put Doubt in his teammate's territory for him to use. Otherwise yeah, pretty much pointless.

You can combo Doubt with Shrine to Artimus to shuffle back into your deck, over and over again.

I thought I remembered reading somewhere on here that doubt was given a play as condition or something that could let it be played straight from hand into battle, is that not true?

That is not true.  That was allowed in TEAMS before it became an official event, but was dropped thereafter.

I'm like 3/3 in using Doubt blocks

Chris Bany RA's with Jacob Captain. I block Doubt, use GOH to add KOT.
Booster. Someone RAs with Generous Widow. I block doubt.
T2 Multi. I play Doubt for someone else (Jordan I think?) It works.
