Actually, I really like the variation of STAMP's idea, as described by RED (name the card, rather than state the reference). 

We used to do something similar.  Whenever we drew cards, we had to read the first 7 words of the scripture on one of those cards that we had just drawn.  That gave players a hint of what you had in your hand.  Of course, this was back before second edition, so the card pool was smaller and it made it easier to guess.

I wouldn't want the card to be too time consuming, but something similar to STAMP/RED's idea would be pretty fun.  You can remember the card titles of the cards you have in hand, and the reference read to you would make it fairly obvious.  However, if you got mixed up, you'd accidentally reveal the name of another card in your hand to your opponent, plus lose the card you didn't guess.  That's pretty neat.

Well... It would be really cool if we got some starter decks with T/C enhancments, and a few new characters and enhancments and some old ones as well.
It could be
Teal/Orange and Greeks
and
Red/ Blue warriors/Gray
I just dont know if that make since to have warriors fight against demons... or we could do
Silver/Gray
And
Red,Blue Warriors/Orange and Black Demons & Greeks
Though i think that teal needs starters. Gray would definately be Syrians, and silver would be NT angels. Orange would be nt demons.
These decks would be easily expandable. SO they would be great for old and new players. Send me a Pm if my idea is accepted lol

did i disagree with what this game is based on? no. am i bitter about it? no. im trying to draw a parallel here, if that escaped you. reading/reciting is rarely fun for any kind of game, as the general consensus has shown.

Despite its Biblical basis, Redemption does have some potential to attract a secular audience simply because it is a well designed CCG.  The requirement to have an understanding of scripture would probably make Redemption look like the many other "cheesy" Christian games out there.  Also you would might risk losing whatever secular audience Redemption has.

Besides, I know MTG has interesting passages on their cards, and I don't think that an understanding of them is required to play the game (please correct me if I'm wrong).  They're there to intrigue you, and if you are so intrigued, you can go and read the storyline on which the game is based.  Redemption's Biblical passages should do the same.

What does reciting have to do with anything?  I just said you should guess a card title after hearing the reference of the card read to you.  Apparently I wasn't clear enough.

Just because an ability appeared in a dead game does not mean Redemption can't have ONE card with a similar ability. 

Oh noes!  Decipher's Lord of the Rings had weapons!  And that game is DEAD!  Redemption better not have weapons or it will be lame!  /sarcasm

You read the question and the person recites an answer.

I have to agree with chief on this one. Making someone recite a verse might be great among christians but not among the unsaved. Many use this as a way to show people about God without bible thumping ya know? Many condemn a game on the word being "Christian" let alone if they have to quote verses. Thats just my 3.1415.... cents though. I like the idea as a home rule though.

But SOMEONE has to read something aloud. If it's the actual text, it will be annoying and will take too long, and if it's the verse reference, it will be too hard to guess. I will side with those who say it's a bad idea. I don't think we should go changing the game's mechanics in such a way.

those players are the smart ones. usually, they're crafty RLK's, and the talkative ones REALLY mess up the good players.

I don't care for it. I guess if it's only a few cards, but still... I learn enough about the game by just seeing the cards. I mean, if I didn't play redemption, there would be NO way I'd know who Sennacharib is.

On one hand, I think if it's only a card or two, it could be really cool/interesting. On the other hand, I'm not sure I want to feel like I have to memorize things or answer questions while playing Redemption. I think if it's done well it could be fun though.

I'm not sure who said it, but I also like the idea of more luck based cards like Angry Mob based on flipping a coin or rolling a dice or something. Or really weird stuff, like the card that I can't remember that discards a character if the opponent has an odd number of them.
