Let's talk about Flood Survivors / Antediluvians

i've been playing it and it's a really strong deck, surprisingly fast, involves strategies unavailable outside of it, supreme recursion.. i think there is still some aspect i am looking for in it though. something that really makes it ever so slightly more broken haha

noah being able to recur medium and wives is great.. that in sync with corrupt people and pitching cards you don't need or already recurred. faith among corruption with you will remain and covenant with noah is tough. it doesn't involve drawing much, but through searching, exchanging, and looking it has a surprising amount of speed.

guardian pointed out that noah's wife makes the protection on japheth and shem work through coliseum, which is really cool.

i'm including here the list i have been playing which has a surprisingly good win/loss record.

T1 Sign of The Rainbow

1   Pitch and Gopher Wood
1   Stone Pillar at Bethel
1   You Will Remain
1   Covenant of Noah

1   Noah's Ark

1   Ham
1   Japheth
1   Noah (CoW)
1   Noah's Wife
1   Shem
1   Eve (Di)
1   Jacob (FooF)
1   Captain of the Host (Wa)
1   Dan

1   Sign of the Rainbow
1   Abraham's Descendant
1   Answer to Prayer (FooF)
1   Faith of Sarah
1   Faith Among Corruption
1   Faith of Noah

1   The Flood

1   Foreign Wives
1   King Manasseh
1   Medium in Endor
1   Laban (Promo)
1   The Serpent (Promo)
1   Corrupt People
1   Violent Men
1   Wicked People

1   Death of Unrighteous
1   Confusion (CoW)
1   Two Thousand Horses
1   Achan's Sin (Pa)
1   Wickedness Abounds (CoW)

1   Jericho (CoW)

1   Mayhem
1   Falling Away
1   Christian Martyr (J)
1   Guardian Of Your Souls
1   Angel of the Lord (G)
1   The Second Coming
1   Son of God (I)

1   Lost Soul (Forsaken)
1   Lost Soul Jeremiah 11:8 (CBP)
1   Lost Souls (Two Liner)
1   Lost Soul (Awake)
1   Lost Soul II Chronicles 28:13 (Hopper)
1   Lost Soul (Open Hand)
1   Lost Soul (Lawless)
1   Lost Soul (Dull)

1   Hormah

achan's sin took a hit with you will remain. i really want invoking terror and hypocrisy both in there, but the ecs do a lot on their own so having an interrupt is great. the flood and faith of noah almost always wind up clearing the table. then following up with shem is very good. i find they typically have more evil cards in their territory than me and i have blocks i can keep in my hand. corrupt people + hormah with liner is very good. can definitely include hormah in a joshua/nimrod meta imo- have to be strategic with it though.

so i've found myself very back and forth between guardian of your souls and destruction of nehushtan. i think hsr is becoming less and less of a problem now that the meta is shifting to being used to playing against it so i am sort of not worried about it in this build. even though it can be a nasty damper i often feel like the value of a you will remain being up for your opponent is so much higher when it comes down to soul saving. basically, hsr probably won't wind up on all game if they are even playing it. household idols definitely can put a sticker on this this offense but if you can keep them around with the ark you should be in good shape. all that said, i see guardian of your souls as being a top cut must. i think the majority of top cut will continue to run the old falling away. however, that being said- obedience of noah has definitely been a consideration in here which partially makes me want to use the new falling away and even grail. the only problem is that the value of falling away for the 2 liner is so much higher for blocking than rescuing 1 soul 1 way that the old falling away has to stay and that is why i still strongly feel that guardian of your souls is a must.

would really like to have a conversation about flood survivors/antediluvians with your thoughts and experience

Have you considered running NJ over TSC? Stone Pillar at Bethel can search for it.

yes and i found that still using sog tsc is preferable imo. tsc is really an amazing card, what it lets you do that nj is incapable of. stone pillar is definitely one i could see being a captured ark, holy grail, or some other support kind of card- sort of like jericho. there's times where you want it but other times where it does nothing.

After Nats, I made a Flood Survivor deck. It started off with Anted defense, but it wasn't doing well, so I swapped to black. This is the deck I have right now. Don't have many games played with it, but it is consistent.

LS: 7
Jim
Switch
Awake
Revealer
Forsaken
Escape
FBTN

Doms: 7
SoG
TSC
AotL
DoN
FA (CoW)
Mayhem
CM

Arts: 3
Pitch & Gopher Wood
Cov w Noah
Captured Ark

Forts: 2
Noah’s Ark
Philly Outpost

Heroes: 11
AotW
Captain
Angel at Shur
Abraham
Isaac
Jacob (tin)
Noah’s Wife
Noah
Shem
Japheth
Ham

Good Enh: 5
Obedience o’ Noah
Faith Among Corruption
The Dove Returns
Abe’s Servant
Abe’s Descendant

Evil Char: 8
Foreign Wives
Lot’s Wife
Sisera
Philly Armorbearer
Garrison
Goliath
Saph
12 Finger

EE: 7
Paying Taxes
Bringing Fear
Foolish Advice
Land Dispute
Joe in Prison
Seized by Rioters
Wickedness o’ Delilah

It's really weak to HSR and HHI, so there's 3 Art killers. I don't regret having that many.

Obedience o' Noah is kind of fun with Jacob -> choose Goliath -> bring in Abe->Isaac to topdeck Goliath, but I've also used Faith o' Noah to get Ark faster. The new FA is preferred for me with Philistines as they are pretty weak to AotL. It's also nice with OoN.

It can usually get Noah first turn, though Abe -> Angel at Shur/Isaac is a great attack if Noah-> Shem -> Japheth isn't available.

Overall, this kind of deck gets characters fast, and doesn't rely on Enhancements. It's fun to play, and I like it.

I just had a build with Benjamin, Jacob (tried the banding one/play a GE and the (Israel) one) and I had an animal defense. Honey from a Lion really sped this deck up for me. I would almost always get through my entire deck.

I played it at Nationals and my biggest problem there was Soul Gen. I would get to 4 souls and forced to sit and wait.

Noah's Wife is fun with Ira. Zebulun would have been fun.

I played Gabe over the weekend with my revised Nats version and lost, but I got to 4 souls and we both played a Falling Away (wo) on each other. I think he might have had an bad draw though. So if we played again he would probably have annihilated me. =] It still felt good though.

Japheth is great against a lot of those Soul Shuffling BWs.

I love the deck. I would love to see the wives printed and with some form of soul gen.

Meanwhile in Iowa...

i agree i can see melchizedek getting in to master q's list for sure with abraham and angel at shur. this is why i ran hopper, lawless, and awake though even in a negated souls meta lol

the animals defense could be good but i think i am a little attached to being able to play the flood defensively haha plus corrupt people is just so good with noah.. violent men can be a really clutch block, wicked people can be very clutch.. etc. i'm in to the antediluvians but i haven't given cain a swing. kind of trying to steer clear of cbn stuff even though the flood can take out coliseum. angel at shur may be a flat out better answer than answer to prayer but i'm kind of hesitant to run a 7/2 silver hero with no silver battle winners. the dove returns is definitely a great card...

i feel like there is something so obvious about this deck that i am missing

This is a combo i found while using the defense. I didn't have this in my deck, just something i noticed you could do. With Continuous evil/Corrupt People, discard widows of Joppa and heal with peter for a free search and a draw 1. you would have to have a clay offense and with peter's heal dedicated to WoJ, he isn't fully utilized in a clay offense, but i still think it could work as a deck. I think it would also be best to run this with ter joppa church and have the simon the tanner/bartimaeus combo, and use Messengers of Joppa to get some other disciples and have a purple/clay deck, or maybe just clay. again, this wasn't my deck that i had, but it looks kinda cool in lackey.  the defense i had was antediluvians/assyrians (to take out that pesky colesium), and that seemed to work pretty well. the offense i used was flood survivors and a few of the abraham themed guys, mainly Abraham and his army.

I will say, Flood decks are definitely one of the more challenging deck concepts to master, but i really like the diversity and freeness that it has, because you can take this concept in almost any direction, and all the cards it use are brand new, unmastered cards with plenty of potential combos just waiting to be discovered!

very cool combo, i like that style. i could see it working very well in a t2 deck. i bet antediluvians/assyrians in t2 is ballin

i think the general ideas i am revolving around are..

there is seriously obscene recursion potential for this deck. creation of the world is an obvious one i would run in t2. prolly 4x.. blue green prophets are already very good especially better in t2 imo. i really like your thinking isaac with corrupt people and continuous evil.

for the deck i'm running specifically

manny out for damsel..
stone pillar out for holy grail.
answer to prayer out for the dove returns

could possibly justify cutting dan and eve for abraham and isaac then maybe one more enh like
faith of sarah for obedience of noah

that seems like a great rescue master q

loving this discussion and talking combos here

Played 4 games today with this deck. I had Noah by the end of the first turn every game, thanks to Abe + Angel at Shur. After that, he was the boss. So great. 8)

HSR doesn't stay on the table for more than a turn or two at the most with my build. Cap Ark is mainly for HHI, and Noah resets it. I would use it over Stone Pillar no question, Arts hurt this deck so bad. What you search for with Stone Pillar will often be tutored other ways now with Japheth looking at top X and taking one potentially every turn. The only reason I've used it in the past was to get AotL/NJ, and with no NJ I would not see the point to using it.

Answer to Prayer is another I tried in the first version but I never really had chances to play it, either thanks to Coliseum or no initiative. Great first turn card, average after that. Strongly advise Servant to Ur.

In your build, I wouldn't ever consider attacking with Eve if you have literally anything else. She's a pretty weak rescue imo, unless you're dying for ECs.

I don't think I used OoN in any of the games I played today, as it was not needed. I might swap it for Sign o' the Rainbow or Live Coal, as negates are far more valuable to the banding chains.

I would def consider swapping Ham for Melchizedek. I did not realize he was a Hero Abe could grab. Most games Ham sits in territory doing nothing outside of being an extra X for Japheth. That's a pretty good role though...

Fun first turn: Opponent begins by setting down Simon (TEC), activating Charms, and putting Treasures o' War (CoW) into territory. My turn, I put down Abe, play Abe's Desc to steal Treasures, play it on my FW, discard Charms, and activate Pitch to get Noah's Ark. Also went on to win the rescue with Abe + Shur, getting Noah in the process. Noah shuffles Abe to be grabbed potentially by AotW, and gets Shem and Japheth. It was rolling. :P

EDIT:
In the first build I had, when I was using Pale Green Anted, I also had Stalks o' Flax to potentially kill two opponent's Heroes with either Noah or Corrupt/Continuous Evil. That was neat. I'd consider that and see how it works for you.
