The Reg tells us:
Think of a token as a "photocopy" of something that truly exists in the game. You can use any object to represent that "copy" (card sleeve, shoe, or a card you made yourself). Because this copy is a representation, it doesnt matter what you use, as long as it is clear it is NOT apart of your true deck.
The Reg tells us that if that "copy" moves from the field of play to a hand, drawpile, discard pile, banishment, or reserve, it ceases to exist. Basically, if the "copy" tries to reintegrate itself as a "real" card it's gone.
So, when making the token (aka copy). The source card that creates the copy will define what the token is (type, brigade, identifiers, abilities, etc.). Normally, the game defines a card simply by recognize the printed features on that card. With tokens, the game defines this card by the ability of another card/ability. It's a great design space for cards such as this promo.
I am very excited to see how design uses this mechanic.
