Upon opening a pack of TxP cards, I was excited to see the new dominant. Upon further reading, however, I found myself wondering how this would be useful. Please explain your views on usability?

Disrupt your oppnets hand.

Play out all your characters/forts/sites/arts on your turn, end turn with Mayhem and 1 or 2 other cards, let them draw 3, then shuffle their 11 cards back into deck and you shuffle in 1 or 2 and both draw to 6. You can gain an 8 or 10 card advantage with one card.
Also, I have the feeling it was designed to hurt speed (they Hur you, or use a bunch of set asides, get like 16 cards in hand, just play Mayhem and shuffle them all back in their deck)

Not sure what it was designed for, but it actually ended up helping speed decks. A first or second round Mayhem can entirely change the outcome of a game. IMO Mayhem is a must add for almost all decks. The only decks I don't use it in are sitelock decks.

If you don't have anything to block with, you could take the chance.

I was in a big tourney and had no block. My opponent was going for thier 5th ls and i play mayhem. I draw sog and the 2 liner for a block get my fourth ls on my turn and sog for the win. phew!

Bah I still think it should have been made so it lets you draw the full hand of 8 cards. I cant tell you how many times ive been screwed over at the start of a game and lose because I only draw 6 cards. Those extra two cards might not seem like alot but when one of those next two cards is an EC or a battle winner that could be game right there.

mayhem should have never been made in the first place. consider, as isildur said, first turn of the game...player A with mayhem drops everything in hand except mayhem. player B turn, draw 3, player A drops mayhem...thats an 11 card swing. that plus mayhems many other applications...its just way too powerful.

Actually, from the perspective of the other player in that game [cough, cough], Mayhem loses games :)
