Hoppers...To Use or Not to Use?

Is using the Hopper lost soul still worth it, considering the Awake LS, Lawless LS, Three Woes, Ends of the Earth, and other abilities that either stop it from working or make it not needed? I'm thinking especially from a T2 perspective, but also curious what you all think regarding using it in T1 as well. Thanks!  :)

I'm curious if people have found it useful for the Reserve (and obviously using Gain to shuffle it in).

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

My general thought is that it depends on whether you are running a speed deck. If so, hopper doesn't hurt too much as you are going to pull all your lost souls anyway and even if someone pulls it out of your deck for you it makes it faster. Even if it is negated, you draw a card to replace it.

Aside from using for speed decks, I think it is a lot less reliable nowadays as soul gen. But you don't have other ways to generate souls in your deck, it could still be considered. With the last few sets, I think there are a lot more reliable options for soul gen for quite a variety of decks.

In regard to using gain to shuffle it in, Im not sure the exact benefit of this aside from maybe surprise if they already searched your deck and found no hopper. It seems by the time you gain and draw the hopper that you would probably already have other souls available or the game might finish first. I could be completely missing something here though.

During playtesting, I'm not sure we anticipated how much Moses CoW would decline in use so our thinking was that people would put Hopper in their Reserve and then shuffle it if it looked like their opponent was not running Moses CoW (or Negate LS). If they were, then you could just leave it in Reserve and not have it be used against you.

Hoppers have helped me get to 7 rescued souls many times.  Sometimes they are neither helpful nor harmful.  Off hand, I can't think of any times where it hurt me to have it in my deck, so can't have happened more than a couple times.

Unless you are running a deck strategy that relies on shutting down lost soul text (globally) or on soul droughting your opponent, I think it is worth putting in almost any deck.

As a side benefit, it even makes it more likely you will draw Son of God or other important cards in your deck! (Slightly, but adds up over time)

Hopper should be in every deck because it makes your deck smaller. Even if it automatically put itself in my LoB every game I would still run it. Now that imitate+lawless and Ends are a thing, if you're droughting it means you're giving up massive card advantage and likely will lose anyway.

It totally depends on the deck. You can make decks so fast now that the old "speeds up the deck" argument doesn't even necessarily justify its slot even for speed purposes let alone the speed:power exchange. It's a very complicated include, but one thing I'm pretty sure of is that if you're going to run it, it goes in the deck, not the reserve.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

I like hopper in speed decks without cow Moses and fbtn soul because you can draw into soul gen. Specially with the reserve, that 50th card can probably fit in the reserve.
