The only two WC banders that specify red that I can think of are Abishai and Ishmaiah. Abishai is superfluous in a FBTNB deck, since there are plenty of other options, and he doesn't provide any additional benefits (he's not I Samuel, etc.). Ishmaiah is a must-use, but since he can band to either Heldai or Asahel, both of who can band to anyone else, I'd say Gold Shield isn't worth it for that purpose.
That being said, Gold Shield is a fantastic battle winner on defense, so if you have a defense that can use it, use it anyway. Then you have it just in case if you want to use it in the way you propose.
