Title: Defeating TGT
Post by: jbeers285 on April 26, 2013, 12:15:17 PM
I was thinking about common TGT decks today and their lack of battle winning enhancements.  I was curious about the idea of trying to stretch of t1 game against someone playing TGT.

The idea would be dont make any rescues until they have deck out.  This makes TGT worthless and all your EE battle winners will be able prevail.  Then after crushing their offense you start your offense.  I know this is counter intuitive that the idea that speed is king(which it is) but does this seem a viable strategy or defeating the meta version of a TGT deck?

When did TGT decks have few battlewinners? Gardensciples has more muscle than The Deck VS defense.

MLaMG isn't a battle winner unless u have Inish before your opponent it is also preventable just like HiR

AotL is only a winner if no band occurs on defense and if the solo EC is not protected from discard.

Haman's Gallows, Wolves in Sheep's Clothing, Golgotha, and Assyrian Siege Army are all good counters to TGT. If you wanted to stretch the game out and shut down there offense a large Gates of Samaria defense should do the trick. All of the ladies are */6 or lower so you can kill them with omri in battle and then hit the rest in territory.

GoS works quite well against TGT.  Include Breaking Jerusalem's Wall if you want to directly target TGT.

A Herods or Emperors deck can always hit it with a Romans Destroy Jerusalem, which is always fun.

I like Egyptians, the deck discard can kill some of their battlewinners, and with egyptian's new speed it keeps up pretty well.

I've always been a fan of Image of Jealousy and Destructive Sin. Easier to get rid of, but also a lot easier to use.

A Herods or Emperors deck can always hit it with a Romans Destroy Jerusalem, which is always fun.

Herods are Romans, they are not Roman governors/emperors, like Denarius requires.

Herods are Romans.  They are not emperors, but they are Romans.

Another thought is with Garden Tomb and Disciples you can use Gabriel to recur he is risen or any other Luke enchancements and use Matthew to recur he is risen and Magnificant.

Just play with evil characters, and have protection for them. Every defense has multiple counters. That does not even include Herod's temple and site protection.
