Whirlwind in T1?

For reference:
Spoiler (hover to show)

I've been trying to work out how to fit this card in a deck considering how sweet it is (though we don't even have one yet). Unfortunately, I've been coming up empty. It seems, to me, like a purely-T2 card or, like Lost Anointing or Third Bowl of Wrath, another Reserve slot. Has anyone used it since Nats in any updated decks and found it worth it?

I can only ever see this as a tech card for decks with spare reserve slots similar to running things like Helmet or (pre-Hope) Joy in reserve to grab with fifth seal. Sadly coming up empty on a list that wants this in main deck. Seems decent in teams and T2 but I don't play those categories enough to say for certain.

Maybe in a future world where the auto sam engine is dead and rotation has reduced the average speed of decks this can be used as a slow value card.

I think it's pretty good in teams. It doesn't transfer initiative and makes for a solid Woes counter. The territory protection is also pretty nice, multiple games at Nationals I wondered if I needed Wall of Protection to help with the Mirror.

I don't count Teams as a category for how untalked about it is. But yes, it looks tasty for teams as a shared Fort.

Other than discarding Woes (which might not even be played as evil) or an evil Fort (or even rarely an EE), its utility is done. It's got so much right and so much wrong. Being rainbow and not T.C. these days is almost bad given how much Damsel is played, and that in itself is a pretty compelling reason I wouldn't run it. It also doesn't win the battle or have the potential to win the battle, so that's another strike. And, though it may grant you some speed in the long run if you have at least 1-2 Redeemed souls, more than likely you're better off using something that gives you speed the turn you play it. Also, while it does protect your Heroes, being Goliath-prone is a pretty steep drawback.

The way I see it, from the decks I saw a bit of this year:

Flood Survivors: Have all of this card's effects naturally built-in to the offense (Shem's protection, Japheth's look and take, and The Dove Returns), all without the downside of being Goliath-prone.

Music/Martyrs: Perhaps the deck that would benefit from this most, as Woes and Babel are among the worst enemies of Music Leader, protecting ML is welcome, and the soft speed is something that patches the deck's lack of super-card-drawing power. However, WW doesn't involve music and it isn't NT, greatly reducing the effectiveness of having it when you need it.

Angels: Do not benefit from running this card, as they are not as hindered by Woes or Babel as other offenses and have the speed/searching to not miss the extra card per turn.

Throne: Laughs because it doesn't need to look and take 1 card at a time when AutO, Sam, Saul, Abigail and Throne are drawing up to 7+ extra cards per turn.

All said, it seems like it would be a great Reserve card for most T2 decks.

An extremely minor niche use it can have is to be a recurable target for Breaking Jerusalem's Walls. Just use ASP or something to get it back and have a way to get back BJW and you can keep capturing for days!  :P

This would work pretty well in my T2 Daniel Deck (but I don't think that deck is really competitive), I can play it off Daniel + Hidden Treasures, and hit something (it doesn't really matter what) I'm happy for the protection, but the ability to look at cards on my deck and take one if I want? Sure. I can get Non-Daniel cards out of my deck and late game it can give me info on when I should stop taking cards from my deck with Foretelling Angel.

Anything that gives you the ability to play a card pre-block would be nice (Ethiopian Treasurer, any Green Prophet with Hidden Treasures, etc.). Those are not necessarily top tier examples, but the goal of a National Promo card is something that could be fun to play but not something that is necessary to be competitive.

I can definitely see it becoming a Babel counter.

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?
