ANB problem.

With the new rulings, A New Beginning says it needs to remove itself from the game to do it's ability. What if Book of the Law is active, in which case ANB cannot be removed? If it's ability still took affect (but did not get removed) it would be shuffled with everything else.

Sorry, but they specifically worded the errata to avoid this problem.

A New Beginning - If making a rescue attempt, remove this card from the game to shuffle all cards in play, set aside areas, and hands into decks.  End the battle.  All players draw 8.  End the turn.  Begin a new turn.

The cost of using it is to remove it from the game during a rescue attempt.  If those conditions aren't met, the benefit (the shuffle) does not occur.  This is how "to" works in abilities.

As an aside, what rules change are you referencing that could have changed this?

Right, and if ANB is protected from being RFG, then you didn't pay the cost, so no benefit.  It doesn't work, but I'm trying to figure out what 'change' was being referenced that would bring up an issue with this.

Look under REG updates under Official Rules. It's somewhere on that page.

Okay, seriously, you need to link there or post it please.  The same language is there as there is on the Official Errata page.  There's not even a difference, and that thread isn't even official.

Please actually reference what could have changed that leads you to conclude ANB should work differently than what I stated.

Thanks :)

New loop hole only the shuffle part is in the same sentence and therefore the under the condition of the remove from game, so you'd still end the battle turn draw 8 and begin a new turn  8)

Actually... yes, I think this is correct.

That loophole could let you draw like 24 cards in one "turn". Sam band -> ANB on Armorbearer with Book of Law up -> Sam band again. Add in the draw 3 at beginning of turn and drop enough cards when the turns begin and you just drew half your deck in one turn

It hinges on how the RBD decision is made, but yeah, this could be interesting.

Wait, could you hold book of the law in say Solomon's temple, have Hidden Treasures active, then go into battle and play ANB off hidden treasures, which wouldn't shuffle, but would end the battle, so would you just win the battle, and get a soul, and then draw 8 and start a new turn?

Can we delete this thread so that an elder doesn't see this until after Nats?

Not to mention Agur. With BotL, you can recur it infinite times. I love this! Do we get a medal for breaking the game?

This is awesome.  ANB is weak though.  It doesn't even shuffle face-down arts  ;)

Hopefully the Elders will let it shuffle arts after they make the errata that we are probably going to cause to happen.

Cards cannot be protected from themselves.

Or is that just characters?

The only thing I've found so far is from the "OFFICIAL New Rulings Announcement Thread" which was

"1 - Characters cannot be immune to themselves or protected from themselves."

Interestingly though, if you had a successful rescue this way, you'd still have to let your opponent have a turn before you could make another rescue by another rule announcement in that thread

"2 - If a player makes a successful rescue attempt, that player may not make another rescue attempt until each of their opponent's has had a turn."

So by the second part of that you couldn't make a second rescue attempt but you could still get a free LS off of it and make a battle challenge to finish off the ridiculous draw and probably get SOG/NJ,
