Title: An interesting recursion happened to me today......
Post by: katedid on January 18, 2012, 11:34:28 PM
So I played a game today in which Angel with a Secret Name and Angel Under the Oak were used to repeatedly recur Moses 5 times....yes, I know....I found it frustrating too.

Obviously, the most common recursion in these decks is to recur Samuel, but have we been thinking that out too broadly? I played a different Judges offense recently that had no Moses in it, yet when I checked the REG to confirm, it says he is a Judge, even though neither the reprint nor the original have this identifier.

So the question is, are Judges defenses lacking because they have no Samuel in them? From my perspective I should say boo to Samuel, hello to Moses, and waltz into my opponents LOB for 4 souls like my opponent did.

Moses isn't that great with modern cards, his ability is easily negated, he gives inititatiave and there are plenty of CBN battle winners on defense. Sam on the other hand starts a banding chain that lets you draw 9 cards in one RA, Oh hai Sam<3

I'd be pretty surprised if you had a Judges defense with Sam.  Sam blends well into any offense these days, Moses fits into less.  Sam allows a deck to be fast, and there isn't much loss of power for that speed.
