Will anyone even use this any more? The year TXP came out, everyone was ranting about how OP Grapes was. It's a decent card, but I didn't think it's very good by any stretch of the imagination. Does anyone plan to use it in a competitive t1 deck? I actually didn't even use it the year TXP came out simply because I didn't find it worth a deck spot, let alone a dominant spot.
Thoughts? I know there is no way I'm going to use it in t1.

I think alot of defense heavy decks will still use it. They will most likely be behind at least one soul when facing offensive heavy decks and it is good for an auto-block in those situations. However, I'd say alot of offensive heavy decks will not use it. Grapes is too situational to take up such a valuable dom spot.

I think Grapes is so versatile that it will find itself a staple dom (though the least staple-y of the staple doms).

I'm mostly thinking about 7 soul decks, so offense heavy or balanced. I could see it being an 8th dom, but 7th? That seems to be pushing it.
SOG, NJ, AOTL, CM, FA, and Mayhem all come before Grapes for sure. Realistically, offensive heavy decks would sooner use Guardian/DON/HT, so I don't think we'll see it in any offensive deck. So I guess this question is mostly about balanced.

Guardian and DoN can both be taken out if you've got Lampy.
-
It isn't that hard to kill Lampy. Without Guardian, you'll probably get Fallen Away far more games than not. I can see people not playing Guardian, but I don't think it's good.
I doubt many people will use Burial, also, so that's another hit vs Lamp.

Due to its sheer versatility I consider it a staple.
I also think its auto-staple in some decks, like those containing TGT.
-
It's another AOTL, which helps TGT (unfortunately). It is a great way to hurt the leader in T1 multi. It is a great defensive block against speed, as has been pointed out.
I think non-TGT speed decks may take it out, but I think it will be near the top of the Dom list for many others.
By the way I think Burial will (SHOULD) be more popular than ever, because of lost soul drought and the inability of a person to rescue their own souls anymore. If I bury one of my 7 lost souls, you play Son of God and NJ on 2 of my others, then you still have to rescue 3 of my remaining 4 lost souls (and hope you have access to them as well), AND you have to wait for me to draw those lost souls. I also think the value of the NT only and Toughness greater than 4 lost souls just went up, because they are protected from your opp's dominants. Also, the new "speed" will become all the cards that create more lost souls for you to rescue.
Oops, serious digression there. Sorry!

Hopper and TAS are already staple for many top decks. Assyrian Survivor and even possibly Gibeonite Delegates will see more play now, which is good because they aren't easily splashable without some support.
-
Grapes is part of the standard 5 staples for me.
-
IMO Grapes is the 5th or 6th best dom in the game, it will still be included in all my decks for the sheer versatility of the card, if I'm losing I can use it offensively if I'm winning I can use it for a block. Grape is too amazing to be dumped.

After yesterday's tournament, I'm pretty convinced that Grapes is a great Dom.
-
It never works out for me, but my opponents always seem to make amazing plays with it.
Weird how that works.

If you you use it as defensive and play and play while an EC with hating the light is in battle, he doesn't get shuffled.

Interesting, but I think the rescuer could still choose to make a new RA, sending that character back anyway, so I don't think that's terribly useful.
