Peyton Manning is a Bronco now? Tebow to be traded?

Am I the only one feeling sorry for Tebow here?  He helps take a team to the playoffs, and they go and get a guy who was injured the entire previous season and pay him almost $100 million over 5 years!

I believe Peyton to be an honorable guy.  I guess it's not his fault.  But I have gone from being a big John Elway fan when I was a kid to being at the point where I can't stand him.

My biggest hope of all is that Tim Tebow will go to another team and take that team all the way to the superbowl.  On the flipside, Peyton is one injury away from being out for good.  I certainly don't want bad things to happen to anyone.  I just won't be surprised if it does in this case.  I really thought Peyton's best move would have been to retire at the top of his game.  Now it seems he will retire 4-5 years from now (if he makes it that long), just a fraction of the great player that he once was :(

Well to be fair, Peyton has a history of being a better quarterback.  Peyton has experience that Tebow lacks.  As much as I love Tim Tebow, Peyton is the better choice for now.

Let's weigh Tebow against Peyton.

Money Making level:

Tebow has a cult like following, making fans out of people who don't know a thing about football = lots of $$$

Peyton Manning is one of the most notable quarterbacks in the league, and is on a huge comeback = At leas as much if not more $$$.

Character Level:

Tebow is Christian and lives like one = Outstanding Character

Peyton has been known as one of the most classy guys in the league = Almost as good a Tebow

Player Level:

Tebow needs to work on getting better, he's not a bad QB but he's not a great one. = Eh so so

Peyton has proven to be a great QB, but will the injury hinder him = Maybe good maybe so so

Experience level:

Tebow has very little experience = yeah well not much else to say

Peyton has tons of experience = He's actually won a superbowl

Leadership Skills:

Tebow, has good leadership skills but he's still young. = Good for Tebow.

Peyton has some of the best leadership skills of any player in the league = Awesome for Peyton.

At the end of the day Peyton is the better choice, however if another injury the Broncos may regret their decision.  I think that Tebow will see play wherever he goes because he excites the fan base so much.  I'm fine with it because I understand the though process of John Elway here.

Blessings,

Wings

Ya gotta be kiddin' me?!  The 49ers couldn't pull of the "M" trifecta of Moss, Manningham, and Manning?!?

 ???

(Why is it I feel this gnawing sensation that Goodell was involved?)

I wouldn't feel too sorry for Tebow. He will likely end up in Jacksonville, right back where he made his fame as a Florida Gator. The fans will fill the stands to see Tebow, which is not a normal sight in Jax stadium.

I feel sorry for the millions of fans who bought Tebow Bronco jerseys.  :o

Why Denver? Peyton is used to and succeeds in controlled enviroments(Domes). He played a majority of his games inside and in cold weather enviroments wasn't as successful in incliment weather to my recollection. I would've thought he have chosen an enviroment that is snow/cold free. Maybe Denver has better pieces in place(Not rebuilding).

Regardless of what you think of Tebow if you have a chance to get Peyton Manning you go get Peyton Manning. It's Peyton Manning. You saw last year just how good he makes a team. Playoff team with him, worst record in the NFL without him. Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Phillip Rivers, Big Ben, and maybe Tony Romo are the only QBs in the NFL that are good enough that you don't at least consider picking Manning up if you can get him.

Peyton would be the best QB in the NFL in recent years if not for Brady. Peyton will bring in more fans and more money than Tebow ever will.

Steffer, why you hatin' on Manning?  He's one of the best QBs of the past 15 years and he's still got the desire to play.  He certainly has the skill level.
May you prosper greatly!

I love how you say 'Maybe Tony Romo' but don't mention Drew Brees...... or Matthew Stafford.

Both of them are better QB's than Romo.

I wouldn't put Matt Ryan in that group.  He's not bad, but considering the weapons around him, I remain underwhelmed.

I'd still probably end up going with manning, but it would be a decision as apposed to Tebow were the answer is pretty clear.

Those of us here in Texas will gladly trade Romo for Tebow. Maybe, just maybe we could win a SB with him.

You crazy Cowboy fans, the only QB I've seen come close to the dominating prowess of Aaron Rodgers is Tony Romo.

I understand your frustration though, because Romo tends to offsets those moments of brilliance with moments of stupidity.

Cowboys fans are so spoiled...I'd kill for Tony Romo, your problem has little to do with your QB and everything to do with Jerry Jones and your defense.

You're the one who must be crazy.  ;)

My current short list would include Brady, Rodgers, Brees and Manning (if he is healthy enough to last the whole season). You have to be able to take your team all the way, as well as put up the impressive numbers, otherwise you have another Dan Fouts.

I understand your frustration though, because Romo tends to offsets those moments of brilliance with moments of stupidity.

Dave Kreig was the previous version of Tony Romo.

I'd trade Romo for Rodgers in a heartbeat.

Yeah, our defense was so bad in some games last year, it was pathetic. Definitely time for a new D-coordinator. Maybe try to bring Wade Phillips back.

Yeah,  if we could get rid of the owner/CEO/gm of the Cupcakes, the RHG and Romo-the Cupcakes would probably regain the title of Americas Team. And win a SB to boot.  Oh,an for the record,I despise the Cowboys.

Off topic, but considering this is the most recent football thread....

I'm getting some sort of sick joy out of what is happening to the Saints. ESPECIALLY considering I'm a Vikings fan.

Yeah, Schadenfreude has been quite applicable to my state of mind regarding the NFL of late as well. Now we can say "Well, we didn't win a Super Bowl, but at least we didn't pay players to try to kill the opponents."

New York definitely did not need to bring in Tebow, the biggest complaint against Mark Sanchez was his lack of leadership and confidence so now you bring in Tebow, who is a great leader, and is also one of the most polarizing figures in all of sports. I'm sure the Tebow chant's half way through the first preseason game will REALLY boost Mark's confidence. He should've gone to Jacksonville, they could've worked the home town hero angle to death and actually sold out a home game for once.
