So does anyone play paintball around here? I've played one time and REALLY enjoyed it, to the point of I'm shopping for a tippman 98 custom right now....
-
I've played a few times, but I prefer airsoft. Less messy and still as fun. Both are pretty expensive.
-
Yeah true on the expensive part. I play paintball and nerf and paintball is the more expensive of the two. But when you play woodsball it's cheaper on the paint.

I've played a few times and loved it. I don't own my own equipment (I'm poor!).
-
Yeah i just rented paintball equipment. my brother and I used to have airsoft guns but needed money and pawned them

I used to play all the time (in Cincinnati), now it is pretty sporadic for me to play. You can not find a more durable gun than the Tippman 98...it is like the AK-47 of the paintball world.

I really enjoy playing it but haven't had much experience with it.
I'm going up to summer camp as an assistant counselor for a few weeks this summer and should get a bunch of time in then.

Yea, paintball is a blast!
Our church plays it (we have nice woods in the back) and I have inherited the title of "unofficial ANC czar of bloodsport" since I organize our games at church now. I started a year ago and my 2 teenage sons love it, too. We have our own equip over the year so we dont have to "rent" from the "rambo" guy. We do woodsball as well-less expensive and more fun in my opinion. The rambo hardcore guy also went in the woods and setup broken doors, furniture, etc to hide behind. We also have a high hill with a railroad track so we can play assualt. I have died many times on that hill.
I am not good at all, but I have a blast. I have a Tipp 98, an like SS said, it is very reliable. If you play woodball, you may want to consider getting a flatline barrel on it since it will increase your range, but it is picky on paint so you have to get pretty decent paint (more $) or it will break in the barrel which is no fun. I have looked alot online for resources and tips and there are plenty out there.
My sons got the walmart specials-one had the 80$ gun and the other bought the 120$ one that looks like an M16. All I can say is, you get what you pay for. So the T98 is more expensive (160$ for the kit) but it's worth it. I don't know if you play full auto or semi auto--we play semi, so the 98 is a good one. Most people we play with have them and there are rarely problems. The rambo guy has the new X7 and it is loaded. It is very cool and he wastes us, but we have fun. We also play kill shots only (head/torso) so no cheapie shots like the toe take you out.
I recently got an A5 and that is a cool gun, too.
Have fun with it! :)

I believe they are called "markers"

Doesn't really matter. And the tippman 98 kit is $160? @slug, Doesn't it come with mask and hopper?

Yea, they are called markers because that's what they were used for historically, but it's more fun to call them guns!!! :P
Yea, I believe it's called the "tippman 98 custom platinum powerpack"--it runs anywhere from 160-170$ depending on where you get it-I've seen it online, at Walmart or Dicks. It contains the "gun" :P, mask, hopper, and 20 oz co2 tank (should last you for the day), and I think mine came with a waistbelt and a few plastic ball carriers you can stick in the belt. The gun is upgradable if you want to change it's looks/performance.
Whatever you do, don't buy cheapo paint (I got some online for 20$ a box--like 2000 shots and they were garbage.) At least get the 40$ boxes and if you can the "pro grades" are always better than the "recreational grades." That way you actually can shoot at something and hopefully hit it without accuracy going haywire.
