Watched Poland versus Greece on a giant screen overlooking this view of the city.

My Polish friends all brought Polish flags and dressed in Polish colors. There were supposed to be some Greek kids meeting us there, too, but the didn't show up. I was with my Italian friends. One of them is really into soccer and went back to watch Russia versus Czech.
I was wondering if anyone on the boards follows the European tournaments that I basically just found out existed?
Woops. Sorry. This belongs in sports. My bad

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I watch the World Cup, European Chamionships and Champions League whenever I have the opportunity. Soccer rocks!
I still vividly remember watching Roberto Baggio missing his penaty kick in the final against Brazil. :(

It's crazy, here in Europe every city street echos with shouts whenever there's a goal or major play. All you have to do is refresh your screen when you hear screaming.
-
I try to watch. I won't have much opportunity, but I look forward to it. Soccer is tactical and interesting to watch.

Soccer is boring. Heck yeah 'Murca!

Topic Moved - Just as an FYI - I'm constantly on the boards, however typically I'm on my phone, which is actually a pretty bad phone, so when you report something, shoot me a heads up PM too, and I'll usually see it a little quicker.

I find soccer = Hockey - all the good parts.
I can't watch the stuff, there isn't enough going on. If I wanted to watch people run I'd go the the park. (it is fun to play though, watching?? Not so much)

Soccer is one sport in which a tie is a good thing
In my opinion a tie is like kissing your sister
And I hate the statement that 99% soccer mom's say "it doesn't matter if you win, we play to have fun"
Give me a break
In the words of Herm Edwards "HELLO!!!! You play to win the game!!!"

Watching soccer is (for the most part) like watching 2 154-card megaturtles go at it. Eventually there may be some exciting moments, but mostly it's just back and forth without much happening.

Watching basketball is (for the most part) like watching 2 50 card Samuel decks go at it. It's all back and forth with no defense.
Watching soccer live is really quite awesome. On TV is less good (as with everything except football). I watch if I happen to catch it and will follow the world cup, but that's about once every six months. Woman's World Cup was good last year.

High quality soccer (world cup, euros, champions league, some european league games) is fun to watch for me. It can be boring at times, then all of a sudden there is a goal. Or nothing. But I like the way they keep playing nonstop (no timeouts, breaks between plays), unlike most sports. I also like the way they knock out the bottom 3 in league play and promote 3 of their "minor league teams" to join the big boys to replace them. I wish american sports put that in place--would make things very interesting at the bottom of the leagues. I wish soccer would put in the goal line tech they are experimenting with, put more officials on the field to help with calls, and put in some instant replay for close calls/goals/serious fouls. I don't like the players diving or acting like they just got their leg chopped off and within a minute they are running about. Offsides make the game more defensive-oriented. The national teams are usually not as good as the club teams simply because they don't play together as much, but the international rivalries are fun to watch. I am hoping Germany will do well-they are so far.
The atmosphere where you are in Europe right now must be amazing. I am jealous. Have fun! :)

Amen!
As a die-hard hockey fan, I'll never like soccer, but whatever.

I'm okay with Americans and Australians liking soccer. But when someone calls it football.... that just gets to me. I cannot coexist with someone that calls soccer football.
