It wasn't really anything special. The difference for me was picking Kentucky over Ohio St. and having Richmond in my Sweet 16. Otherwise, I was back in the pack with everyone else.

in all honesty, I cannot remember a wilder march madness than this:

When was the last time that no #1 seeds made it to the final 4?
When was the last time a 3 seed was the highest seed (and not the lowest?)
When was the last time that an 11 seed or lower made it to the final 4?
Who could have envisioned back to back final 4's for butler?
Who the heck is VCU? I don't know but I guess they play a little basketball there...

2006 was a pretty crazy year with GTown being in Final Four, but an 8 and 11 seed against each other in the final four? I'm pretty sure that's never happened (considering that there have only been three 11 seeds to make it to the final four (LSU, GTown, and VCU)

You mean George Mason. You are correct however that 8 v 11 is the highest combined number matchup ever (second is GMU vs Florida (3) in 2006)

I heard this morning that if you total up the numbers of the seeds together for the final 4 that this year is the highest total ever, beating out 2000 by 4 points.

Guardian, I saw your ShoutBox comments. Since they were from last night, I figured my response would make more sense here.

You had said you wished you could have seen Kemba Walker play during the regular season. I like him because he not only can put up 30+ points, but he finds ways to win. In the Big East tournament, he had one game that he dished out around 15 assists because he couldn't get an open shot (double-teamed). He also has those "intangibles" that announcers talk about. In last night's game, against the ~~United Kingdom~~ University of Kentucky, he dove out-of-bounds to save possession in the final couple minutes, and also darted back to defend what would have been a sure dunk after a steal. He is a great defender, and surprising rebounder for a 6'1" player (and that's a generous scale).

What I really love is watching his high arching shots. His height requires a little extra to get over defenders, especially when he shoots within the three-point arc.

Jeremy Lamb is UConn's future highlight reel guy, but Kemba is our leader, and he finds a way to win.

Interesting side note: UConn is 21-0 against non-Big East teams this year. They are 10-9 against the Big East (including Cincinnati in the Madness). I'm glad that the other Big East teams were knocked out already.

Being a native Hoosier and knowing that the movie "Hooseirs" was filmed in Hinkle Fieldhouse, and having several good friends that went to or are associated to Butler University AND since I love the coach, his attitude, and the work ethic that he instills in his players (not to take anything away from Jim Calhoun who is also a top knotch quality coach, if not among the top 10 coaches of all time..)

Kentucky gave most teams match-up problems because of their length and athleticism, that's how they made it to the Final Four to begin with, but I think Walker is the kind of player who will find success in the NBA because of his versatility.

18 points (one third of the team's total), 7 assists, and 6 rebounds to help lead his team to the national championship game sounds pretty good to me.

True that YMT, I picked UConn to win the championship during the Big East tournament. After I saw them beat Georgetown in the 2nd round in Madison Square Garden, I picked them to win that tournament and I said that if they won the Big East they would win the national championship.

In a year filled with a lot of really fun players to watch in college ball, Kemba Walker definitely stood out above most of the rest with his clutch late game shots in games that mattered and his athleticism.

UConn went undefeated in tournament games this season, (ridiculous!), beating the likes of Michigan State, Kentucky (twice), Pittsburgh, and Louisville in the midst of that 11-0 tournament run.

I approve. Props to Jim Calhoun for leading him team to success with a freshman laden roster (minus Walker of course). Ironic that this freshman team beat another top freshman team, Kentucky.

except for the championship game, the tournament had some great games. While my bracket was wrecked shortly after the sweet 16, I still enjoyed many of the games and matchups. This is what college football is missing!
