Another Tebow Rant!!

I'm so frustrated that Tebow was cut. I really thought that he would make the team. Anyway, I am sick and tired of hearing all the NFL analysts with stuffed shirts coming up with reasons why Tim Tebow "stinks as a QB" and "can't play" and "has to go to the CFL." So I have several things that I would like to say.

1. A popular argument is that Tim Tebow can't play. Define "can't play." Because i remember him going 7-4 (6 straight comeback wins) leading a 1-4 team to the playoffs, and beating my #3 team the Steelers in a miraculous fashion. he also had the #1 QBR out of the whole league in the last quarter.

2. Another great thing that the analysts say is that he isn't stylish when it comes to football or winning games. When did style become an issue? So what if he wins it in the 4th quarter. They should be talking about his amazing ability to rally his team together. Style should not matter. Just inform Ben Roethlisberger, Terry Bradshaw, and John Elway that they should go lifeless in the 4th quarter instead of coming back.

3. One favorite argument of the people on TV is that Tebow needs his offense personalized. That simply can't happen. Oh, wait, don't tell Mike Shannahan, Pete Carroll, or Jim Harbaugh that there offense can't change for the QBs that they have. Besides, Tebow's offense is beast! The Denver Broncos of 2011 had the best rushing attack in THE ENTIRE NFL!!!!!!!

4. The average starting QB in the NFL is horrible and struggles to get his team to .500 on the season. (I.E. Sam Bradford, whoever the Cardinals have, Carson Palmer, Phillip Rivers, Brandon Weeden, Colt McCoy, Blaine Gabbert, Chad Henne, Cam Newton, Mark Sanchez, Tony Romo, and Michael Vick.) Tim Tebow does not have this problem. The QBs I just mentioned, as a rule, are not scrutinized nearly as much as Tebow. They also have the privilege of starting 16 games; something that Tebow has never had the opportunity to do. Tebow went 7-4 in 11 games. If Tebow was a full time starter his team would have the best rushing attack, most comebacks, and at least 10 games, and a playoff spot.

SO... with all of the arguments refuted and utterly crushed beyond hopes of a comeback, my conclusion: Tebow would be a starter if he praised the lowly, fake, non-existent, moon god "allah." Tebow is so polarizing because of his beliefs. I'm sure that I will receive a message telling me that I'm a Bible-beating Christian, my ideas are outdated, and that what is true for me may not be what is true for someone else. Whatever. But, back to the point........ Give Tebow a REAL starting job. He will win. It is all he does in the immortal words of the wonderful Skip Bayless.

any one can play you could have a lineman throwing. What there saying is he is known. No one saw him coming and he was able to run the ball like crazy. That come back was with a team that was made to run. But now Tim Tebow is known he needs to pass. and only 1 for 7 passing attempt on you pre season opener is not a playable player.

I think you might not be understanding what there saying. i Thing there referring to that he throws like pitcher not a QB. I could be wrong hear thus you are right.

So set Tom Brady and make it about Tim Tebow  :o And again With player like RG3 and cam newton Def are prepping running QB. which is all Tim Tewbow can do.

4. The average starting QB in the NFL is horrible and struggles to get his team to .500 on the season. (I.E. I hardly think that one season means the guy is beater than any of the QB you have there. There are a lot of other factors to consider.

SO... with all of the arguments refuted and utterly crushed beyond hopes of a comeback, my conclusion: Tebow would be a starter if he praised the lowly, fake, non-existent, moon god "allah." Tebow is so polarizing because of his beliefs. Who Want's him As A QB Run for CONGRESS(i am not joking)

I am really sad to see Tim get cut but it makes perfect scene my reasoning is in Red.

1) Rex Grossman went 13-3 and went to the Super bowl, he's still a terrible quarterback. Just like Tim Tebow.

2) His style is not about how much flare is in his game, it's the fact that he can't run a normal offense so you have to rewrite your entire playbook to hide his weaknesses. This would be akin to Apple hiring a new Manager and starting to make iPhones triangles because thats the only environment he can work in.

3) Yes they did, they also had the worst passing offense in the entire NFL. The difference between Tebow and guys like Russell Wilson, RGIII, and the rest is that as well as being good runners and option QBs, they can also throw a pass.

4) They aren't scrutinized as much because they can throw passes. All of those QBs are much better at throwing that Tim Tebow. If you put any of those other QBs on the 2000whateveryearitwas broncos, they would have similar results. Their defense that year was monsterous, still is, and their running game was amazing partially because of Tebow but also because they had a good line and good backs.

Your assumption that he got cut for his beliefs is beyond false. Nearly every player in the NFL is a christian who expresses those beliefs on a regular basis. He got cut because he is not a good quarterback, and that is what he wanted to play. I am also a bad mechanic, this does not mean that I'm not getting jobs as a mechanic because of anything other than my lack of skills as a mechanic.

I think that it's worth mentioning that I read that the Patriots have carried 2 QBs on their team every year for a long time, so it would've been VERY unusual if Tebow had actually NOT been cut, and they chose to carry 3 this year.

Personally I think it would make sense for Tebow to consider switching to RB.  Obviously he can run, but imagine all the fun trick plays that you could run with a HB that can throw as well as him (yes I know he can't throw that well for a QB, but he can throw amazingly well for a HB).

The Patriots have an emergency QB that also multitasks as a Special Teams player, wide receiver and defensive back. His name is Julian Edelman, and he was a QB in high school and college (Kent State). I honestly believe that Belichick wanted Tebow to multitask as well, except at HB and TE because of his size. Belichick is notorious for going for it on fourth-and-short, and last year's rush-to-the-line third-and-shorts. I think he wanted Tebow to be a "special occasion" player, and that is not what Tebow wanted.

I'm so frustrated that Tebow was cut. I really thought that he would make the team.

There is more to the story than what has been said so far. Belichick is anti-media, so he will not say anything publicly. However, Tebow said all I needed to hear (as a Patriots fan). After being cut, he said that he would not give up on his "dream to be an NFL QB." This is a specific contrast to earlier quotes from him about his "dream to play in the NFL." Tebow wants to be a QB, and he seems unwilling to do what many other college QBs before him have done - whatever it takes to make the roster. I do not find it coincidental that Tebow did not play at all in the third preseason game. That was a statement from Belichick. Tebow was given his chance to make the roster as a QB and he did not play well enough to earn that job. I watched the preseason games of my team, and I can say with all honesty (as one who previously stood up for Tebow) that he looked awful. His passes were not even close to the receiver, and he made very poor choices that led to sacks - third-down sacks, which are are an NFL death sentence. This wan't about throwing mechanics, or "style." This was about getting the ball close enough to the receiver that he can make a play on the ball, and keeping it away from the defender's reach. That is the QB's job.

I thought you were talking about Tebow being cut from the Patriots, who certainly cannot afford to change their whole offense for a backup QB. The Patriots offense is geared around a future Hall of Fame drop-back passer. Tebow is not a fit for that offense.

Give Tebow a REAL starting job. He will win. It is all he does in the immortal words of the wonderful Skip Bayless.

I agree that Tebow needs to be given a chance to start a full season, since he was one of the most successful QBs in college football history. However, if the CFL is the only place where he will get that chance, then he should welome the opportunity with open arms, and earn his way back into the NFL. Otherwise, he needs to be willing to change his position, or be a multitasker, and do whatever it takes to get another chance at an NFL roster.

I am not asking the pats to change the entire offense that has worked for so well. I'm really referring to a team that has nothing to lose kinda like the Jags and the Browns etc. They could use Tebow and be pretty competitive. Also Tebow's running success came mainly from the fact that he plays like Roethlisberger; broken plays, broken tackles = touchdowns. If Tebow were a HB he would lose some of that elusiveness. What would be really cool is if he went to a team that had a QB that could pass a little better, but not really have a starter. Instead try a Kordell Stewart experiment. Besides, coaches have changed the playbooks for certain players. I also believe that Tim Tebow's team (depending on if he was in a kordell system or a starter) would be a playoff team. Who cares how Tebow throws the ball as long as his WR/TE/RB catches it? And if defensive coaches really tricked out the defense they are using for the read option (which is NOT the same offense Tim uses) than Kaep shouldn't have gone to the SuperStink this year. By the by, The pats and Tim Tebow's 1st drive........ Tebow had some really good, Denver-like SPREAD OPTION plays that they used. They drove down the field a scored a TOUCHDOWN. Plus..... when the giants were up 20-14 all of a sudden we had some classic Tim Tebow Time action when he threw 2 touchdowns in the 4th to win it. (28-20) Yet he still got cut. Totally unfair.

The problem is he is not a good passer i say again what team starts a guy who gets 1 pass out of 7 throws.  Tim TewBow did well with the the element of surprise he does not have that now thus he can not be a good QB.

I'm kind of offended that you left Christian Ponder off of your list of mediocre-to-bad starting QBs...we Vikings fans consider it a source of pride that we made it to the playoffs last year with the least explosive QB in the NFL.

As for Tebow, I think he has a great career as a preacher ahead of him. I also think he's a great athlete, but he is simply not a great quarterback.

Tim Tebow is a bad quarterback who had a good season, not a good quarterback who has bad numbers.

But they don't, because it bounces 5 feet in front of them if it even gets that close. We're talking about a guy who has a sub 50% career completion percentage. He fails more than half the time at the thing that he is supposed to be able to do. Great guy, great Christian, terrible quarterback.

I expect all WRs/TEs/HBs to be Larry Fitzgerald and catcher virtually anything near them.

Exactly this. I actually predicted that New England would give Tebow a shot because of Belichick's penchant for using versatile players in multiple different roles (WR playing DB, DE playing TE or FB).

I respect Tebow for sticking to his goal of becoming an NFL quarterback and I respect Belichick's decision to let him go so he can find that opportunity elsewhere.

If they get off to another horrible start, the Jaguars owe it to their fans to bring Tebow home to Florida and give him a chance.  8)

I must say as a Jets fan, after how bad they did last year I would've much rather seen Tebow given more shots instead of Sanchez chucking the ball to China and back. Sanchez was probably one of the worst QB's last year.

I'm not so sure about that source, and there are plenty of "clicks" that may have come from Tebow-haters rather than Jags fans. I can speak from experience that Tebow is greatly beloved here in Florida. When the Patriots signed Tebow originally, I had an outpouring of local fans that called me to say that they were now Patriots fans (shortlived as it was). I guarantee that if the Jags sign him, there would be more than enough new fans to replace those 31,000 clickers. The Jaguars' stadium would sell out every game. You have no idea how devoted Florida Gators fans are in this area.  :o

Things like that are pretty much the worst way to determine what a group of people actually want.  I guarantee that if a site was made for Jaguars fans to petition to get Tebow, there would be a sizable number of fans heading for that page too.  I'm not saying that I think Tebow is a good quarterback, but this is a very bad way to try to generalize jaguar fans.

Jacksonville is actually 20th in stadium attendance.  Not a good number by any means, but its still completely unfair to bash their attendance when there are many teams that do worse than them.

Yeah, and there is a large population of USC fans in San Diego, the Chargers don't want Matt Leinart OR Carson Palmer. Loving a kid in college does not translate in to wanting him on your NFL team if he isn't going to help them win. There are dozens of college super stars every year that don't turn in to anything in the NFL, and their original fan bases root for them without wanting their teams to destroy their chances of winning by taking them. It means nothing to me that people down there claimed to be patriots fans when Tebow was signed there because if by some strange occurrence he had become the starter their it wasn't their that would end up losing games because of it. They can root for the team without actually caring what the consequences are.

It always bothers me when people say that Tim Tebow won 2 National Championships at Florida. The first year he was a back up and a gadget player. We don't credit Matt Cassell as being a National Championship winning QB even though he was also a backup to Matt Leinart. He played a role in the win sure, but he was a backup. give Chris Leak the credit he deserves.

Yeah he won one, and then he choked another way, and then he inspector gadgeted one but he's white so he gets credit for that one too.

Why did this thread become racist?

Loving a kid in college does not translate in to wanting him on your NFL team if he isn't going to help them win.

You have no idea how much Tebow is adored here in Florida. If you lived here the past six years you would know. It's like nothing I have ever seen. Actually, I did see it to a lesser degree with Doug Flutie in New England, and he most certainly did end up on the Patriots, and was loved for not doing much. You severely underestimate what Tebow means to the state of Florida.

The first year he was a back up and a gadget player.

Did you watch many of the Gator games in 2006? My brother was a huge Gators fan, so I ended up watching them more than I wanted to. Tebow's contributions were more than trivial. He made touchdowns and first downs in the most desperate of situations. He had a huge game against LSU. As is always the case with those who can't stand Tebow, you are looking at numbers on paper rather than the true impact he had on the team, especially when it counted most. Every time he went into the huddle, the crowd would elevate a level, and you could just tell that he would get the first down or score. It was like there was nothing the defense could do to stop him. Completely unreal at the time, which was annoying for me because I hated Florida teams.

Chris Leak certainly deserves accolades, but discrediting Tebow's significance on that team is silly.

Jacksonville is actually 20th in stadium attendance.  Not a good number by any means, but its still completely unfair to bash their attendance when there are many teams that do worse than them.

This is why I specified "showed up." Those numbers are the tickets sold, not the actual turnstile. There is often a huge difference between those numbers--trust me, I work at a MLB stadium and part of my job is figuring out close those numbers might be on a game by game basis.  :)

Good question because race has nothing to do with this discussion. If Chris Leak had been a better quarterback than Tebow, he would have been drafted and made an NFL team at some point.

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

Yeah, he's loved, I also love Matt Leinart, I also do not want Matt Leinart on the Bills because he's not good. Tebow is beloved for his accolades in college, not the pros.

He was a better quarterback than Tebow, that's why he beat out Tebow for the starting job. Where's his chance that the world supposedly owes him because he won a natoinal title in college?
