Title: All Reds, All Day
Post by: crustpope on April 05, 2011, 10:07:17 PM
This thread is for those interested in talking about the Reds.  Let other Baseball fans talk about their other teams, this is where we discuss the greatest team with the greatest history with the greatest fans (http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110403&content_id=17361868&vkey=news_cin&c_id=cin).

all haters beware ;)

speaking of the Reds...how about a 4-0 start?  Sounds good to me!  And depending upon how the Diamondbacks are this year ( I honestly havent looked but they werent fabulous last year)  we have a good shot of going 9-0 before we hit a series that would be tough (road trip to San Diego where we have never really played well in the lase several years)

I gotta say, I am Psyched up about this season!

Yeah, and with the Cards struggling, the Brewers not quite all there, and the Cubs being, well, the cubs - Unless things start looking dreary before the All-Star break I think we're pretty well off :)

I didn't mention the Astro's either ;) The Pirates are looking good so far, but c'mon, the ownership of the team is so bad, there's no way they'll be competitive the entire season.

I completely agree. I wish my friends were so smart.

Carlos Silva for MVP

10 - 6 with a 4.22 ERA over 21 games.  yep that is the NL MVP.

In his defense he had to pitch to Pujols. Although pitching to Votto should even it out, so whatever.

Actually I just looked it up and Pujols batted .000 with 1K against Silva last year. So change my argument to Yeah, Silva is that good.

The Reds are winning, but not sure how tough their schedule has been so far. They've also played all their games at home. They will probably win the Central because of the teams in it, but do they have enough to get to the World Series? I guess we'll see.

Over 155 games to go...Reds' fans shouldn't get too excited while Red Sox fans shouldn't get too depressed.

I'm just pulling for Phillips and the Hanny/Hernandez platoon for fantasy purposes.  ;)

Well offensively you should be doing pretty well!

Still looking good.  although the lack of control by Volquez does concern me a bit.  It is good to see that we can still continue to battle back into the game even though they gave up 4 first inning runs.  True it is Houston, but you can only play the people on the schedule.

well it had to happen sometime.  First loss today.  To the Astros but it was still a close game.  IMO If you gotta lose it is better to go down 3-2 than 13 - 3

We just got beat up by the Brewers you guys just dominated. We'll have no excuses though. Have the Phils, Marlins, and Mets coming in. If we win 2 outta 3 in each of those series (which will be very tough), we should be looking great.

p.s. Yes, I said "we" like I'm actually on the team.  8)

beating up on the fish might be easy but you are right about the other two.  But I dont think the braves will have much problem this year, You all have a pretty good shot at the wildcard spot, and with any luck, maybe the division....

one could only hope?  ;)

well my reds have been playing better lately. It was realy encouraging so see quality starts from Bailiey and Cueto along with an improved start from Travis Wood.

I got tickets to the game this weekend!  it happens to fall on the Ohio State Tournament so that hurts but watching the REds and Cards is a tough matchup to pass on.

So far them Buccos have been pretty darn competitive! Especially against the Reds (5-2 so far)...Lets goo!!

I have to admit, I am impressed with the pirates.  But do they have enough to go the distance?

Well...the difference obviously is the pitching which can be traced down to the new pitching coach. Old pitching coach tried to change every pitchers deliveries and the new guy told them to pitch in whatever way they were most comfortable. Another pretty big difference is Clint Hurdle. He has shown in his managing career that he can resurrect struggling teams. Its a little concerning though with the start they are having to this Cards, Braves, Phils stretch of the season. They need to be able to take down the top teams in the league before they can be considered contenders or even good. They will only be mediocre if they can only beat mediocre to bad teams. Thats my opinion, though I am very optimistic about them at the same time!! You gotta believe if your a Pirates fan!!

Honestly if the Reds dont make it, I want the Pirates there.  I am not giving up yet because I believe the Reds have a real shot at making a serious Run in August and September, but I will admit that the Reds need to figure out their pitching rotation.

And Votta needs to get with the program...he has really been in a cold streak as far as producing runs is concerned. Bruce has stopped hitting homeruns. But I agree its the pitching that really needs addressed, batting will come, there is no way players like that can stay cold for too long
