Title: z-temple questions
Post by: sepjazzwarrior on September 08, 2016, 12:18:33 PM
could I have lampstand in a temple, deactivate it, play DoN, then reactivate it on my artifact pile? or in the temple?  also just want to make sure coliseum doesn't stop z-temple? thanks

coliseum only negates protects in battle. So Z-temple is safe!

You can't deactivate and then reactivate an artifact in the same place on the same turn.  Not immediately replacing it means you're not replacing it.  Not sure about changing locations, but I suspect that doesn't work either.

I really think the rule is you can manipulate your artifacts whenever you want during your Prep Phase, but you have to do it all at the same time.  I just can't find that anywhere.

From my understanding you are allowed to activate/deactivate artifacts at different times during your prep phase, but once you choose to activate/deactive an artifact you cannot undo that action after you have performed another action. For example, you cannot activate Household Idols, then play Table of Demons (which benefits from an Idol being active) and then choose to deactivate Household Idols. However, if Household Idols was active from your last turn, you could play Table of Demons while it was still active and then later choose to deactivate HHI and activate a different artifact.

I would need to confirm with other Elders. My thought would be you could move Lampstand from your Art pile to your Temple but it would need to be the same action. (Not "Deactivate Lampstand from Art pile. Do something else. Activate Lampstand on your Temple.)

I could be wrong though, not 100% certain.

I'm pretty sure that scenario has been asked several times, and it's not allowed.  Might actually need to codify that in the rules somewhere.

Both using an Artifact active from a previous phase then activating a new one and deactivating an artifact, doing something else then reactivating the same artifact regardless of location have been disallowed traditionally, but there is no codified ruling either way.

Ongoing abilities last until the end of the phase anyway, so even if you could find a way to deactivate Lampstand and activate it again later that phase I'm fairly certain you still wouldn't be able to play DoN.

Unless artifacts are an exception to that and I'm just remembering incorrectly....

Artifacts are an exception of sorts. If you deactivate an artifact... It's ability doesn't remain active.

However if I discard your artifact (without negating it) you are correct that the ability persists through the phase.
